The first round of the playoffs have ended, and Omar "X-Spider" Martinez returns to give you a recap of what went on. X-Spider took the time to interview a player from each team that participated in the first round to hear their ends of what occured in their respective match. Guest predictions for the Quarter Finals are brought to you by Donn "Rage" Kovac and Sammy "Zonozaur" Zono. Statistics for the first round are provided, along with a link to the brackets (no time for fancy brackets, unfortunately). Hope you guys enjoy reading this, as they should be the best thing to happen since sliced bread. stealth! On dpk
Can you give us a detailed account of what happened in the match? Does the score reflect the actual flow of the match? Any key players or runs? Well, we kind of had about 2 and 1/4 players playing. Jackson was complaining about acs lag, dean was checking facebook to see if any guys posted about his muscles, doza was doza, joel's computer almost blew up, and I was on 15fps with no mic. The score reflects the match perfectly. The capped out again and again, over and over. All they really had to do to get kills was point and click, because we had trouble shooting back, mostly in apartments. They abused both joel and my situation, running at us with knives because it was almost impossible to shoot back. Kilen left at half because he's a girl. Kyran was being cute the whole time. Would you mind telling me about the team you beat tonight? How do you feel they played? Who were their key players? Well Mendoza didn't have their starters tonight, and two of their guys were on broken computers, so my judgement will be unfair. They weren't too strong for these reasons, really. They are all individually-skilled, but just couldn't bring it together. Kevin "stealth" Gardner is really bad. Dean did pretty good with the kar, though. Your opponent is Kuppler for the Quarter Finals. Who do you look think will provide a tough challenge for you guys? Will anything change in your strategy against them? I don't think we will. Our strategy isn't too complex; we run the classes where they should go, and rotate accordingly. As long as we're playing our game and getting the key kills, then we should be fine and won't need to pull out some unorthodox strat. Till on Kuppler Can you give us a detailed account of what happened in the match? Does the score reflect the actual flow of the match? Any key players or runs? Well the match started out with us shorthanded, Bromley had to work, so we had blairism sub for him(he has no mic), and kevo's internet was shotty at best. We started out fine, holding mid and long on allies side, but having a little trouble at well. We had just capped well when kevo first lagged out, leaving long wide open. They capped out with the man advantage. We responded with 2 cap outs despite their MG at the first. We ended the half up about 80 points, and entered axis half expecting to take the match. Axis half their rifles absolutely dominated our well team, while we managed to hold long for periods of time, we could never hold well for long enough to cap. They exploited their rifle advantage and were constantly pushing through underpass to our first. Their Heavies proned Till-Style in apartments, ensuring that that part of the map would never leave their control. Despite all this, the scores were still neck and neck. With about 40 seconds left we were up by about 4 points, and they managed to kill all of us and cap out for the win. Key Players: I had three 5 kill streaks 2 of which ended in cap outs. But the players of the match were Kuppler’s Rifle Team. Smokytomb on Perfect By Nature Would you mind telling me about the team you beat tonight? How do you feel they played? Who were their key players? In the first round we defeated team exile (perfect by nature) in a close match that closed the deal when we capped in the last minute of the match. They had 2 good players (dderp and Till Jim). They were better prepared because we never know who are starting 6 are until the match begins. but in the end we finally found a little chemistry to get by the first round Your opponent is dpk for the Quarter Finals. Who do you look think will provide a tough challenge for you guys? Will anything change in your strategy against them? And now the meet dpk again, we played them on dod_anzio on week 8, our team finally broke down in the second half to get destroyed after we were up a few. We were not prepared at all (like all the other weeks ). Justin and poizoned are the 2 guys to watch out for. Last time we played them, we only played with our 4 starters but this time it will be different with stiffmaster (past clans -Nt-,rav) active and his experience will come in handy in a map like chemille. Liquid and sharp will be a threat once again if they can keep there pings low. Quarter Final Matchup: #1 dpk(9-0) vs. #8 Kuppler(6-3) [Rage] donkey punchin krew > Kuppler (3-4 caps) Kuppler is one of the more dedicated teams in cal-o, and play with precision and great teamwork. It may just be enough to beat dpk... or maybe not. Poisoned will likely have factory on lock unless Sharp can stop him. Justin will duke it our with Sacred again, and if by chance Alex "nose that broke the mold" kirk decides to show up, Prowack and Liquid will have their hands full. Coventry and Kyran will be pitted against Benni and a Smokytomb eager for recongnition. Maybe they will even let dustin out of his cave to play for a bit <3. [Zonozaur] donkey punchin krew > Kuppler (by 280) Well surely we all know dpk by now, but who exactly are these Kuppler fellow? Well at least I see a few familiar faces. Also by viewing their record I noticed an impressive win over 8ballclan in week4-donner by about 8 caps. Well, I still don't think they will be able to handle the rifle trio of Jesus, Mary, and Joseph (statik, kirk, and poizoned) for dpk. Who would've thought they were donkey punchers. I see dpk being delightfully strong on chemille. They are strong players and have a pretty good sense of teamplay. They shouldn't have a problem with Kuppler. Players to watch: statik, poizoned, kyran, kirk, kaboom, justin |
