Good times. I started with the HL engine playing HLDM... stalkyard CLQ mostly. I got into CS at beta 2.1 when I realized I had to "download" this custom game. Started clanning in beta 4 when I made a team with a good, local friend (c@p). Eventually the team evolved into clan -v- (vengeance) where I met strath and we co-lead the clan for close to a year. Our prime was when we reached top 2 on the old RITD statistical rankings and went undefeated in the first cal (domainofgames) league until our disbandment.... too much time gaming... and the CPL scence began to take over a few months later. Pubbing with G n L all night was fun. I passed through clans such as TRU and u238 [HI KS] before ending up with xeno at the beginning of 2001. Xeno was in-a-way the merging of the best canadian talent and was a lot of fun mostly due to it being my first local clan. It was a lot of fun at the peaks, even before we became known. The "politics" of the clan soon gave way to a fair bit of internal fighting, but it was definitely a cool experience. One of my good friends (walters) had called me up and asked me to join his clan, so I did and it evolved into DTG and then infamous. While it was still DTG, I took a chance on some uknowns at the time, and went to Washington D.C. to compete at Recon 2000. This trip was probably one of the best cs experiences that I've had, getting closer with a lot of cool and funny people on my team. We placed pretty well, way surpassing expectations that others had going into the event. Arkaine, Red leader, griffin, Paki and myself made up the team. In September and October of 2001, I had some great lans at NLi, hosted smoothly and quite intense, with my current team Hybrid. We [Icedout, Strath, czr, tatsu and myself] managed to take out the best teams of the GTA and the best players of the Toronto area, winning a CPL birth. Unfortunately due to monetary issues and time contstraints we were unable to attend. A last highlight, before this whole thing gets way too long, is the WCG Canada Event 2001. This was with infamous, Nova, griffin, Arkaine, Bak Gwai and myself. We beat eH (nerve), LAW, and others to get to the finals of the event from the losers bracket. Playing LnD who later went to win the event in Korea, we beat them 11-1 on train. Next we had to play on nuke and in probably the most intense and thought over match that I've played in, we took them down to the wire but ended up losing by a round. I ended up going to the Winter CPL in 2001, after not playing cs for close to a month. Probably wasn't the best idea in the world, but it was a generally interesting experience and I learned a lot. Until the next addition, take care and don't let gaming crowd out other things in your life. |
