i used to play a lot and got decent at it. Havent played since my internet is poop and frusterated me to much and my 360 just start showing the red light of death
it was a team handicap joke... zoltan started it. the only real people that understand where it come from would be forum users of Gladiator Arenas 24/7 AvA pub, and |GAS| admins. aka me panz trainman zoltan and raider.
zoltan had an avatar that had a little RPG character that had a voice textback saying 'penos.' from that point on it's kind of been an inside joke with handicap. when we first started playing competitively in tpg, handicap, zoltan would throw it in his alias sometimes. im pretty sure there is a clip of him using it in the handicap tpg movie ages ago.
lastly, it kind of popped up here n there in vent occasionally from nick and raider or one of us, but when we picked up nick (zoltan) for our first 1.3 lan and lans after... (x3o's, w2z's for 1.3, PA for source) we would just shout penos as a joke because it was funny. we made a channel during cal s4/5 for dod:s to just have an mIRC meeting ground. it 'exploded' at PA lan when we just started yelling penos to try and anger opponents. it worked pretty well. ever since we have been picking up members and friends that we think are cool and do well in gaming/the community. not try hard nerds with jesus sandals, fro's, or have greasy pimples. people who have real lives and can be good at games.
that's the history of penos.
to clear up 'jetty' since nobody else in here has yet... jetty started off predominately east coast players, all of them coming from cal-m cs pV (pernicious vengeance). Not sure what season they started off in dod 1.3, but i'm pretty sure the 'original' pV/jetty players were something like johngale stevehisey alexsurge ianpyrite seanbuzzbee andrewdarksum and i believe they picked up danscorch. they started off real well and went cal-m... about this time was when the 'curve' of DoD started to go down i believe and a lot of the '[e]xceptional' players started to disperse. once these east coast players started getting recognition #jetty grew and all the [e] kids started befriending them. not to mention most of jetty resides in rvc (runs vent crew) and most of rvc resides in #jetty. they run hand in hand now. jetty's 'annoyances' that are equivalent to penos would be ... the best analogy would probably be dane is to jetty as gregus is to penos. they both ban people and are liked by the people who like them and hated by those who dont know him. jetty was created by stevehisey but then john got steves auth, and hijacked the channel. so johngale is the owner of #jetty. you can find most of the top notch 1.3 players in jetty.
the rivalry between jetty and penos? started off after w2z 1.3. i am friends with johngale, alexsurge, and stevehisey. i had something like upper 400's !a in #jetty. and i have 499 in #penos. alexsurge being friends with many hdc members, had ops in #Penos. without us knowing, he began oping people in penos from jetty, who then in returned cleared out our channel by !addbanning most people besides the high tier ops, i.e. me trainman panz zoltan.
in retaliation, since most of this 'nerd anger' came from kids like christian_tweedy and rickyrambizzle, penos destroyed #jetty. being closer friends with andrewdarksum and keithpunay both o.g. pV and jetty members with 499/498 access, i wrecked there channel by navigating my IRC skills in #penos. Panz and i engaged in gotfrag forum text battle, where racism ran deep, and comments werent nuked and insults ran rampant. in the end jetty had 2 members in it. johngale (afk) and steve (afk). then alexsurge IM'ed me on AIM with a simple 'wtf blake.' i like alex. he is a good guy. he told me christian_tweedy was literally crying in vent and i have an AIM convo alex forwarded me showing how blatantly upset christian was. i didn't feel like causing alex all these problems and i called for a truce. i deleted the problems i had created in jetty which included: immediate bans for anyone tagged up with 'jetty'alias" in there channel, and deep, commented addbans towards any nerds in there. then later on, we were getting banned ins crimdod, gotfrag comment nukes, and more. the corruption ran deep, so we decided they hadnt had enough. i think christian cried himself to sleep that night. we emtpied the channel again. and that was when it seemed it was a called truce. i believe to this day they think that rebirth was the one who sold out jetty LOLOL but it wasn't at all. cypher was trying to act all smart and banned rebirth from like scrimdod and everything. ivan was so mad and upset that he had been a victim of these kids. they sold him out real quick.
so far? penos and jetty havent had any problems. but to this day if you say penos in #scrimdod you'll get insta-banned, thanks to jsmart i believe.
and that, ladies and nerds, is the history of the two finest clubs in dod/dod:s.
an epic tale that will live in internet infamy for all time. hopefully one day an epic beowulf style tale will be sung of the penos/jetty days. the days of living legends.

basically we were comparing our group of friends "penos channel" to the jetty channel as a joke and alex turd surge gave access to rambizzle who took a poop on everything about our channel for no reason (thanks)
most of the guys in jetty are cool, just as blake said, and similar to how you guys apparently all hate gregus, they have a bad apple or two in our eyes ha

Also you forgot to mention the epic pitbulls vs poodles thread which lead into the posting of some very questionable pictures which led to further. I never was "crying" but I probably yelled a thing or two, all in all a tactical move on your part indeed.
