Day Of Defeat Source: Top 10 North American Teams

By: Michael Vackar - Published March 21, 2007 at 6:44 PM EST - Writer Archive
After 4 competitive seasons of Day of Defeat: Source in CAL, teams have risen to the top and proven to the community that they are some of the best available.
Season 5 starts a new, more competitive era for DoD:Source. With past champions forming new teams under fresh sponsors, one can only expect a major overhaul of both leagues and teams. Here we rank the top 10 overall in North America, along with their respective rosters and season overlook. The swapping of players in the off season, most notably the dissolving of dynasty Visual Gaming, will make season 5 a more balanced, competitive environment. There is no clear front runner as there have been in seasons past. As for the rankings themselves, teams were positioned by a simple point system. Every team mentioned in a top 10 list had equal representation in the voting system. The leader of each team ranked the top 10 teams and could not include his own in the list. The point system went as follows: The top team on each list was given 10 points, the second team given 9, etc, while the last team was given 1 point. With 11 leaders allowed to provide their team ranking, it posed a possible 110 points for each team. And now, without further adieu, we give you GotFrag's power rankings for Season 5:

Given the history of compLexity in 1.3, one would expect any team playing under the organization in DoD:S to be the top team. Other teams of the invite level have labeled them as such given the experience of their roster in both 1.3 and Source. eMazing Gaming finds themselves following close behind coL through always being on the brink of a championship win each season but never quite getting there. With the old Check Six team and Visual Gaming powerhouse dissolving, this season may finally allow them to take a grasp on the title that they've been long thirsting for and put them at the top. A little behind eMg follows pure Gaming in which has found themselves with a roster overhaul for season 5 through picking up half of the Visual Gaming players to help push their team forward. Like eMg, pure has made it close to a title but never quite reaching that accomplishment. With the strong adjustments to their roster, they hope to find chemistry among one another to pave a path to the championships.
