Day Of Defeat Source: Week 6 Main Predictions

By: David Beland - Published April 25, 2007 at 5:55 PM EDT - Writer Archive
Read on to see what Davitch's Outcomes for this weeks matches are.
There is tension growing within the community about who could potentially win main. Most teams have a potential shot such teams could include Enervate, Mexicans, Game slaves, Mug`n`Mouse, Paragon, Check Six and Envy. After this week we will have a little better understanding of who can win since most of these teams will be playing each other. Expect a lot of close matches and blowouts at the same time.

With over 50% of the voting so far, this looks to be the match of the week. BG Gaming, an all-star squad of Invite players played only one week in Open before being moved up to Main. After defeating a tough team in their first Main game, they now get a chance to challenge the top team in Main. ENE is coming off a huge emotional win last week to become the only undefeated team remaining in Main. Although this match-up seems a little surprising based on the team’s records, neither team will take it lightly. That being said, it should be an extremely fast-paced match with plenty of excitement on a quick map. Viewers are definitely going to get their money’s worth this week.

Players to watch: dCaf, jester, ac!d and visioN

Prediction by bismal: ENE >Battlegear - 3+ caps

vs.
(3-2) (3-2)

Suspensions midway through the season handcuffed eMg against some of the upper tier teams in Main during the tough portion of their schedule. The positive spin from this is that after a couple of close loses, eMg has found themselves matched up against a couple of struggling teams. The return of Nublet to the line-up will only make eMg stronger as they look to revisit their winning streak. Unfortunately, the Totally Cool Boys appear to be moving in the opposite direction. Although they produced a convincing win in Week 2, TCB has since then shown inconsistency against the mid-level Main teams. Coupled with the fact that TCB has not played a match since April 4th, the result should be a compelling win in favor of eMazing Gaming sprinkled with rust.

Players to watch: Nublet, Togglemania, and Nuttz

Prediction: eMg >TCB - 5 caps.

vs.
(3-2) (3-2)

MNM is definitely one of the stronger teams in Main despite what their record would lead you to believe. So far they have destroyed the teams below them, and barely failed to beat the teams above them. Their match this week promises to be one of the closest results of the week, and could start MNM on the way to securing a playoff spot. eNvy finds themselves in practically the same situation. They boasted convincing wins against the newer Main teams, while struggling against some of the Main powerhouses. The one advantage that eNvy has going for them is the fact that this is a map with which they are very familiar; winning this map in a crucial playoff win last season. Look for the broken factory to be swapped back and forth often, while the team that first secures the underpass will have it locked down for the majority of the round.

Players to watch: Bismal, Biggsy, biz and Sik

Prediction: MNM >Envy - 2 caps

vs.
(2-2) (2-3)

This is another match-up which has potential for greatness; however, rumor has it G3 may have difficulty showing up for this match. Although neither team boasts an impressive record this season, both teams include enough big-name players to worry any manager in the league. Check-Six seemed to be heading in the right direction, until a timely defeat by The Mexicans. x6 will look to rebound against a missing-in-action G3 squad and move themselves over the .500 mark. Should G3 make the 9 o’clock start time, expect an epic battle which will decide which team will still have a shot at squeaking into the playoffs. A loss for either of these teams would be devastating for any post-season expectations.

Players to watch: Loki, Maniac, and Game

Prediction: Check-Six >G3 - 3 caps or FF.
