good read, should also make this in the headline news in the dods section, tired of seeing gotfrag is hiring!!
:P
I was pretty disappointed that there were no HLTVs. Didn't notice until near the end.
Actually I don't think the reason is that the game is dead. It's the mentality of the dods community. 20-30 teams may have show for 1.3... but still only 4-5 teams may have had an actual shot at winning it. Same goes for source, but here the teams without a chance just don't show. Another thing is that alot of dods players are either too young to attend, or in college and unable to attend.
DoD:s is not dying, it's just not CS/CSS either. It' for the semi-serious gamers with a life on the side.
*and although it's cute that you can now use a calculator willeh, it's just not true. In order for it to be true, you would need to take skill, or lack of, and luck out of the equation.
you're right, its already dead
Terrible game.
Now first of all I can defend w/e the hell I want. Second, I didn't say it "required" anything. I said it was played mainly by semi-serious gamers. Gamers who enjoy the game, like to compete, but don't expect it to be their life, and those people will keep playing dods. To me there's nothing wrong with that. DoD:S has had a fairly decent lan rate lately considering it's a "dead game". Buttom line is, no, it'll never come close to cs/css, and it might not come close to dod 1.3 either. But if you think that the reason why 1.3 was more succesful than source was that it was a better game, you're laughable at best. It may very well have been a better game, but that still has nothing to do with it.
In all honesty, why beat around the bush? You're pissed cause a lolzomgdeadbadgame got a $10,800 NewEgg tournament and your lolzomgstilldeadgame didn't get shit. This ought to tell you what "pro-gaming" is all about. And I'll even throw in the freebie of telling you what it's not about... you sir, it's not about you!
You fail to realize your game isn't fun, and if you think it is, you clearly haven't played a fun game. And congrats about your newegg lan, it's not like 1.3 hasn't had lans with a much larger prize pot and a much larger turn out. And your whole arguement about source being for semi pro? over 75% of the teams at Summer CPL 05 knew they didn't stand a chance of winning any money at all, but that didn't stop those 30 teams from showing up, didn't stop me from showing up either.
"You're pissed cause a lolzomgdeadbadgame got a $10,800 NewEgg tournament and your lolzomgstilldeadgame didn't get shit. "
That's just funny. play in traffic, moron. Summer cpl was 3 times that prize pot. So, you're still very far behind, and yes, it is a shame that you're even catching up to such a terrible goal.
any arguement you have stating otherwise will just be rubbish. I already won.
