Gotfrag DoD:s, version 2. A rundown. Recently I received head admin of gotfrag DoDs. How and why came as a surprise to me, but, it happened. Anyways, I'm going to head up an effort to revive this place, with the community's help. You're probably already asking, "Why should we switch back over to gotfrag? It was a failure in the past and now we have fragdods." Well I'm going to answer that for you. The short answer is "new administration;" but first let me elaborate on why, with a new core group of admins, gotfrag should be preferred as the community site for dods. Gotfrag has the advantage of professionalism and publicity over a more independent site such as fragdods. People who are interested in playing games competitively know about gotfrag. By using a lone site, we are limiting our potential player-base by a huge factor. Gotfrag also has a lot of great features. Community news, team rankings, gallery section for LAN photos, demos section, and more...it's all there and easy to access. Four forums: Discussion, Predictions, Recruiting, and Random covers everything, and will help with activity levels just because of its simplicity. I realize Day of Defeat:Source has a troubled past with gotfrag. I was amongst many community members who didn't care for the persistent trolling and bashing that took place, and did help support the switch over to an independent site. However, I believe that now, with a new change of administration, we can make some positive, permanent changes that will make this site worth it. As it stands, I need to "hire" some more admins for gotfrag. I know for sure that we'll need: -Some person/people to approve demos. This will probably consist of checking to see if demos are submitted, watching the demos and checking the files to see if they're fine to be downloaded. I assume we're going to only accept higher quality demos, so please be somewhat skilled in the area of DoDs as well so that you can interpret this. -Writers and editors. Simply put, we're going to need writers, and people with good language skills who can check for errors and give feedback and whatnot. Eventually we're going to need people who can do reports or updates from lans, scoreboards, rankings, and all that good stuff. -General mods. I know we'll need at least a few people who can enforce the forum rules. This will include nuking posts and sigs, punctually stickying/unstickying threads (prediction threads every week). Non-corruptness is highly preferred. I will also take suggestions and advice from community members in what we should be doing here. Why or why not do you think we should use gotfrag? What can I/we do to improve this? If you have experience with gotfrag admin, I could also use some tips as well, because I'm still learning my way around some of these features. I will be looking at applications for admin via gotfrag pm, or whatever way you can reach me. I'm seriously into improving things for the community and am open to any suggestions you have, and I will answer any questions you have for me/us. Sincerely, Juanito "Pepito" Bendito |
