DotA takes another boost to the high road of competitive gaming with compLexity grabbing a chunk of the action. Why did compLexity expand its division to DotA? It has always been our intention to expand compLexity Gaming into numerous games. We have studied DOTA since September, and feel the time is right for it. What do you believe DotA will bring to team compLexity? DOTA is an amazing game that is garnering worldwide acclaim. We also see its popularity skyrocketing in Europe and Asia, two of the regions we will be focusing on during our 2006 expansions. There are numerous top tier teams for DotA. What made Clan Plug Pullers stand out? Several top CS players who I speak with daily are big DOTA fans. They helped me do the research, and I think we found a championship squad. The guys are really talented, mature and dedicated so we expect great things. Will there be any competitions you will be entering with the new DotA division? For starters we'll be competing in the online leagues of CAL and ESL. We'll also be keeping our eyes open for the right LANS in hopes of sending the squad to international events soon. Can you reveal some of the key points in this acquisition of Clan PluG? Will they be sponsored to fly to events and such? Although our contracts are confidential, I can say that they will receive the same support from compLexity as all our divisions, and that does include full travel sponsorship. What are some of the changes to Clan PluG being under Team compLexity? The team consisted of around 10-14 players before they joined compLexity. We took six core guys. Other than that, and the support our organization will offer, there won't be any significant changes. Will fans be able to purchase sexy compLexity DotA merchandise anytime soon? We're currently negotiating with several suppliers to produce compLexity products. The negotiations tend to be complicated and take awhile, but I think it's safe to say you'll be able to buy coL gear of all types sometime in 2006. DotA does not currently have HLTV-like features for observers to watch the action. Will this affect the popularity of competitive DotA? I think any game that can't be watched "live" suffers in terms of a smaller fanbase. There are rumours that such a feature is being developed, but for now the fans will have to settle for replays unfortunately. Will compLexity create any events to continue to spur the growth of competitive DotA? That's definitely not out of the question, but we have no specific plans as of yet. Any shoutouts? Thanks very much for the interview. I'd like to thank our loyal sponsors, GameComm, IceMat, Steel Series, Hi-Def Servers, Comcage and IMG. |
