The biggest DotA league in the US is widening the playing field and spreading out it's wings at the same time. AL announced today that it’s next season will feature 4 divisions dedicated to DotA in the states and 1 (or 2 depending on the signups) dedicated to the European DotA community. This makes CALs structure for the upcoming season the following: DotA CAL-Invite (I) DotA CAL-Main (M) DotA CAL-Intermediate (IM) DotA CAL-Open (O) (optionally) DotA EU CAL-Main (M) DotA EU CAL-Open (O) With the CAL-O and CAL-M playoffs coming to their conclusions, the factors taken into account with promoting teams will be the following, Skill, Longevity and Sportsmanship. These terms were chosen in an attempt to take DotA to the next level of E-sports, with lan-events in mind. By starting up EU divisions, CAL is hoping to involve the European DotA scene more in the future of the game, setting a global template to support the rapid growth in popularity DotA has and is experiencing. The rules as well as the opening date of registrations for the upcoming season will be announced soon. Source: http://www.caleague.com/?division=DOTA |
