DOTA: Battle for the Throne begins

DotA is on the rise online and on-LAN. Battle for the Throne was announced over a month ago, leading in the online cash prize phenomenon for DotA and will begin shortly.
TGL and DXD have combined forces to bring one of DotA's first large cash prize online tournament. There is a total of $3000 in cash prizes, along with hardware. Around 500 teams worldwide have signed up for this tournament, all with the taste for the throne at the tip of their tongues. Teams such as MYM, SK, Virtus Pro, Zenith, Pandemic, eMg and many others have all signed up for this tournament.

The tournament administrators are making DotA-Client (anti-hack program) mandatory for every game in the tournament. Games will start this Friday, November 23rd. Teams will have several days to complete their matches. Brackets have been released;  31 teams were seeded and automatically advance to round 2. Brackets and tournament rules can be found on the Battle For the Throne website on TGL.

Tournament Rules:

  • Single elimination tournament
  • Match Length: Until a winner has been determined (ancient falls or a team surrenders)
  • Match Winner: A match is won if the opponent’s ancient is destroyed, or if the other team forfeits.
  • GG-Client IS mandatory for international games, however if both teams agree to use LC (List-Checker) they may. If no host has List-Checker then GG-Client needs to be used.
  • Map: 6.48b
  • Game Mode: -APXL drafting is done in chat (XL Style). The in-game mode is –AP.
