DOTA: MYM Top 4 Predictions

By: Nick Laney - Published December 12, 2007 at 5:19 PM EST - Writer Archive
MiRRoR and JoKeS make their predictions on which teams will advance to the winners bracket finals in the MYM PriDe #8 Tournament
The MYM PriDe #8 upper bracket semi-finals are underway!

Four teams remain out of the 500+ teams that started the tournament, those four being Meet Your Makers, Kingsurf, Virtus.Pro and Sk.Gaming.

From here on out the tournament is in a best of 3, double elimination format!

The winners of these matches will face each other in the upper bracket finals, with the losers facing off in the lower bracket.

The games will be played over a 6 day timespan, from the 10th to the 15th of December.

MYM PriDe #8 Predictions
MYM

(8-0)

vs

Ks

(8-0)

JoKeS's Predictions: MYM has clearly been dominating the tournament as a whole. They are fresh off of a win against the American powerhouse, Team Pandemic, and of course, are looking to keep the momentum going as they play off against Ks. Ks has been showing their Asian skills, which have been talked about, just never truly shown. Ks may even be the top team in Asia as of now, as they are much farther into the tournament then any Asian team has been in the past MYM tournaments. I predict MYM to win this match in 3 games.

MiRRoR's Predictions: This MYM vs. KS match is very intriguing. On one hand, you have MYM, who has been blazing through the group stage and the early playoff rounds with relative ease. At an average of fifty-two minutes per match, MYM continues to show very strong team play and great ganking skills. On the other hand, you have KS, who has followed up very well after their trip to the round of eight in MYM 7. They are looking very sharp, having beat SK in the group stages. They are coming off a convincing win against BTB as well. With stand-out performances from Yamateh and Xiaogui, KS is looking to upset the more experienced MYM. In the end though, I think MYM’s team play and map control will be too much for KS and will result in a 2-0 win for MYM.

(7-1)

JoKeS's Predictions: Virtus.Pro and Sk.Gaming are definitely not considered new teams in the DotA scene, especially in the MYM tournaments. Virtus.Pro has won 3 of the last MYM tournaments (counting Nations), and of course are looking to continue to dominate the Pride's. However, Virtus.Pro does seem to lose quickly in the final 4, but come back through the losers bracket to win the tournament. Sk.Gaming is no foreigner to the top 4, though losing to eMazing Gaming in the last Pride, they were able to beat them this time and are now ready to battle their way for the gold. I predict VP to win this match in 3 games.

MiRRoR's Predictions: In this match we have two previous MYM winners VP vs. SK. Both teams are very well known and have a great deal of experience playing each other. VP has kept the momentum going from their first place finish in the last MYM. In the first two games of the playoffs they only lost 1 tower and outscored their opponents 69-37 in kills. After losing a good game to KS early on in the group stages SK has rebounded rather well. Coming off a payback win vs. eMg for Pride 7 SK is looking as tough as ever with their great team work and hero innovation. This will be a great display of team play and hopefully the originality in hero picks will continue through to this game to make this even more of a great watch. In my opinion VP has slightly better individual skill to go along with their great teamwork and will result in a 2-1 win for them.
