DOTA: MYM #9 Preliminary Predictions

By: Robby - Published February 03, 2008 at 2:52 AM EST - Writer Archive
DarkFire and guests Metro, eMg.Hit0mi, Naz and mouz.Playmate deliver the MYM PriDe #9 Preliminary Predictions!
The MYM tournament is thrown to us a little different than most teams are used to. Normally after the Qualifying stage, a Group Stage is created which gives teams the opportunity to play around 5 games a piece to qualify for the Playoffs. However, this time around, the group stages are thrown out, and the teams are thrown into a Playoff Preliminary stage. Each seeded team in the tournament is placed in a different part of the bracket. Among these teams are placed the teams passed the qualifiers.

DarkFire, along with special guests Metro, eMg.Hit0mi, Naz, and mouz.Playmate, breakdown the Playoff Preliminaries, to give you their suggestions on who will move on throughout the tournament! I hope my American biasness wins these predictions!

Bracket 1

No one in their right mind would guess that VP would not be seeded in the first spot of the playoffs. Having won the past three MYM PriDe tournaments, VP is considered the strongest team in the world. It is unfortunate for 'Recognize or Step Aside' and 'JUJUJUJU' to be placed in their bracket, but it's what happened. Who knows, maybe an upset could occur!

Well.. at least VP gets some Pub Stomping before the tournament begins!

VP will be taking the first spot for the playoffs and there's no doubt about that.
VP should prevail but expect some interesting picks and a good fight from JUJUJUJU!

VP has proven to be the best over and over again, I do not see them losing against any team here.
VP because they are the Russian kings :)

Bracket 2

In the second bracket of the playoff preliminary, teams such as Just a Mix, The Elder Gods, OH BABY!! and Xerostomia are found. Though TeG comes into this tournament with a shady history, that does not mean they are a team to under estimate. OB and Xero may be lesser known teams, but the less known teams have been starting to get more known.

With showing no biasness at all, OB will crush this bracket!

TeG is back with KANGA and freezer. Even if KANGA is hated by many (even me) he's still a good player. TeG will take the spot.
No competition for TeG here...eZGAMED!

TeG is the most experienced team in this bracket, I'd expect them to take it easily.
Kangavision.exe owns everything, which means teg are winning 2nd.

Bracket 3

Though most of the teams in this group are fairly unknown, these unknown teams are the ones that can make the upsets! With the only largely known team being SWITCHback in this group, we may very well see a new powerhouse!

If SWITCHback doesn't win this group easily, I will be very impressed.

sBACK still has to win a big tournament and they're hungry for PriDe #9.
Free pass for sback.

Sback's chance to prove themselves once again, a lot of unfamiliar faces here so I expect sback to take it easily.
sBACK are strong, so i am counting on them, even though i think the other teams might have a little chance too.

Bracket 4

Once again we run into a bracket with only 1 known team, that being Team Hi2u. With less known teams such as Sanctuary and TEMA, who knows if they could match the Team Hi2u!

DarkFire

I have no doubt that Hi2u will roll over everyone!

Unless TEMA is a Russian smurf team of good players I don't see hi2u having any problems.
hi2u should have this bracket if they don't choke (as they oh so often have already!)

If hi2u keeps everything organized they should take this without trouble.!
Hi2u says bye2all :)

Bracket 5

It seems the new teams just don't stop coming! Once again, the only internationally known team is eMazing Gaming, and two other teams being gG`alpHa and C00L DotA Gaming!

It's nice to know that America will for sure have many teams representing the USA in this tournament, eMg without a doubt!

eMg will take the spot easily.
eMg. I'm quitting DotA if we don't come out on top :P!

eMg's is their own worst enemy in this bracket.
Same story as Hi2u with eMg

Bracket 6

With teams such as WolkeR-Gaming and the seeded Team Excello, and the unknown teams of Fluffy Bunnies of Doom and iPoD, who knows what could happen!

DarkFire
Metro

mouz.Playmate
I'm going to have to go for WolkeR-Gaming, though not known in the international scene, their roster looks stacked!

Two ukranian teams will face each other for the spot, xLo and WG. Travka is playing on WG and that's why WG will win.
Finally an interesting bracket, seems like the best of Ukraine will be battling it out here! Hard to predict the outcome of Goblak Travka vs. Zlobogr ChangerH and others? Close call here but my money's riding on WolKeR-Gaming

Really hard matchup here between xlo and WG, both teams have a lot going for them but I'm putting my money on WG.
xLo are doing very well, since they got their organization sponsoring them, so no doubt here aswell.

Bracket 7

With wicked being one of the strongest Russian teams in the world, who knows if 'I don.t care,' 'Emperor`s Domain of Pain' or 'mineski' can take them!

DarkFire
Metro
eMg.Hit0mi
Naz
mouz.Playmate
Unfortunately, wicked can not, and will not be stopped by this group!

Everyone expects wicked to win but I believe that DoP can pull and upset and take the spot.
This may be the closest bracket this tournament! Wicked's my favourite here, but DoP might have a chance with their crazy picks!

Wicked is a powerhouse team, but DoP has showed a lot of innovative strategies. Wicked gets my vote but I hope that we're going to be surprised here.
I am a true fanboy of LoH, so my bets are on wicked.

Bracket 8

Though having lost Drayich from Sk-Gaming, very few teams can match their power in game. However, with 'Stars-Vietnam' and 'Pub Gamers' in the picture, who knows if Sk can hold on to their seeded spot?

DarkFire
Metro
eMg.Hit0mi
Naz
mouz.Playmate
Sk, though I do expect to see them steal Hi2u's Naix strategy!

SK has lost to two asian teams last two PriDe's. If that doesn't happen again they'll take the spot.
Should be interesting to see what arises from Stars-Vietnam, but have to say, there's no real competition for SK here.

SK has had a solid performance over the last tourneys, I see no reason for them to change that trend with this bracket.
SK for sure.
