The online playoffs are underway and we have the former top Halo 2 teams making their way through the bracket with force. To start off, we see Str8 Rippin obliterate their first and second round opponents in great fashion. Round One Match
Round Two Match
Taking the first round against the 128th seeded team, Str8 Rippin is obviously accustomed to Halo 3 in their short period of transition. Although we haven't been able to see them play much against their competitors from last year's Halo 2 Pro Circuit, it seems as though they will be able to put up a fight once the time comes later on in the bracket. Another team that seemed to have popped up out of nowhere in the online bracket is Carbon, who placed very well last season. Round One Match
Round Two Match
In their first two matches, they have been able to pull off extremely respectable 3-0 wins as they try to take over Halo 3 competition much like they did in Halo 2. Considerably similar to Str8 Rippin, it will really come down to the wire for Carbon once we see top teams performing regularly against their Halo 2 rivals of 2007. One of the lesser known, but yet highly skilled teams of Halo 3 is making a stand as well, as Team Classic forces their way through the first couple of rounds of the playoff bracket this week. Round One Match
Round Two Match
What everyone wants to see is if this new team to the Halo 3 scene can hold onto their high seed and progress past the Halo 2 legends of the game that they will soon have to face. With very strong 3-0 wins against their first two opponents, their dream may possibility become a reality as they definitely have their game down in Halo 3. Through the first round of MLG Online play, Team Classic defeated a number of the best Halo 3 teams. Therefore, all they need to do is hold onto this momentum to place very well in the Meadowlands stop of the 2008 MLG Pro Circuit. Last but not least comes the recent performances of Final Boss, who seem to be skipping a beat of their normal pace of play in the first two rounds of the playoff bracket. Round One Match
Round Two Match
Taking their first round in a 3-1 fashion seemed like the typical Final Boss. However, progressing into the second round of bracket play and taking a 3-2 win seemed like Final Boss lost a bit of something there. Usually, one expects to see Final Boss take advantage of the position they are in, and seeding rather well in the online ladder, gave them lower seeded competition and a general advantage in the early rounds of playoff play. Final Boss needs to step up their play a bit in order to be seen as the total powerhouse that they were throughout 2007. As of now, Str8 Rippin seems to be taking control of that position.
