Halo 3: MLG 2008 Meadowlands Preview

By: Michael Murray - Published April 11, 2008 at 12:14 AM EDT - Writer Archive
The first stop of Major League Gaming has hit the East coast as New Jersey will see the best Halo 3 teams go at it. Let's see who to keep an eye on this weekend in Halo 3.

After six months of waiting, Major League Gaming is starting another season of gaming with the 2008 Pro Circuit season beginning on April 11th, in Meadowlands, New Jersey. There was an impressive turnout for their first ever online playoff to seed teams competing in New Jersey for Halo 3. We have seen some new names shine in the Halo 3 scene, and some veteran Halo 2 teams perform both amazingly well or fall short of expectations.

At the online playoffs championship, we saw an undefeated Str8 Rippin face a very strong team in The Agency. Much like the previous online playoffs, it seemed as though Str8 Rippin would swiftly defeat The Agency.

Str8 Rippin3--3
The Agency1--1

Following through on their previous reign of terror on the playoffs, Str8 Rippin finished strong with a very impressive championship win against The Agency. This gives them the number one seed and The Agency a very respectable second seed for MLG Meadowlands 2008.

There are several other great Halo 3 teams, able to compete with the likes of Str8 Rippin and The Agency. These teams are shown in the final seeding for the Meadowlands 2008 MLG Pro Circuit stop.

1. Str8 Rippin

Nice preview. Str8 Rippin has really come out of the 2007 MLG Season strong and been dominant and I can see them continuing to play well. I think FB & Carbon will be better than their online results of late, but I don't think either will win.

Who doesn't love Halo competition? Wish I could be watching it in person like usual, but such is life. Good article Murray, enjoy the season.

Good stuff. To bad it's has to be at one of the worst locations in New Jersey. Shame.

I'm already tired of seeing Halo 3 cover up all of the other games in the MLG. Halo 3 is one of the smaller competitive games in the MLG. Gears of War, Rainbow Six: Vegas 2, and Call of Duty 4 are all more important and more popular than Halo 3 in the console community. I can't stand Halo! It's just so pathetic that such a random game gets so much attention when the attention is deserved elsewhere.
