Halo 3: MLG Online Action Update

By: Michael Murray - Published May 05, 2008 at 11:54 PM EDT - Writer Archive
The shock has settled within the community and Final Boss has taken the reigns as the number one Halo 3 team in America. What's next?

With MLG San Diego coming within the next month or so, the online community is hotter than ever with competition everywhere. After seeing Final Boss take over the competition much like they have in the past, it seems as though this MLG Pro Circuit season will be tough for the newcomers to Halo 3 competition. Among those new names are a number of fantastic teams, including number two seeded Classic.

Coming nearly from out of nowhere, team Classic was able to fight their way through a number of the best Halo 3 teams and amaze the fans as well as the competition. In perhaps one of the most unexpected upper bracket final matches, we saw team Classic facing Instinct in a blowout by Classic. Blowing out Carbon previously, it seemed as though Classic might have been able to take out Final Boss. Although putting up a fight, it seemed as though Classic lost their will to play as they lost game after game being outfragged nearly every time.

Now that we have MLG San Diego coming up very soon, we can only expect a number of top teams getting used to Halo 3 as they will be looking to knock Final Boss off of their perch. Among MLG San Diego, GameBattles is partnering up with Stride gum to provide one of the first third-party sponsorships from the company. With the Halo 3 Spring season beginning, it has been announced that Stride will be sponsoring the winning team with a trip for 4 to an upcoming MLG Pro Circuit event, including:

- round trip coach airfare
- ground transportation to and from airport
- 2 hotel rooms for 3 nights
- Passes to MLG ProCircuit event

As if that's not enough, 2nd placing team receives $1,000 in cash and the 3rd placing team receives $500 in cash.

This next MLG Pro Circuit stop should prove to be amazing as the West coast is hit hard. With over a month left for preparation, we can only imagine what MLG has in store for competitors and fans alike in the second stop of the MLG 2008 Pro Circuit.

Stay tuned to GotFrag.com as the 2008 MLG Pro Circuit picks up speed!
