Halo 3: Freature Match Interview: [xeno]stickgod

Joe Corcoran's interview with Chris "stickgod" Brennan about [xeno]'s upcoming match with Cooked Gamers.

Chris 'stickgod' Brennan - Its an oldie, but goodieGive me a little background about your team and how it has been doing recently.

[xeno]stickgod:
Xeno is the same team we have always been. The team we have going now is more similiar to the team that won CPL rather than our team that won the CAL championship last season. We have been in a slump, but I think that can be explained pretty easily.

With a CPL Championship and CAL Championship under your belts, xeno has not lost two matches in a row ever in your Halo history until now. Whats the root behind this losing streak, and how has it affected the team psychologically?

[xeno]stickgod:
Other teams just want it more right now. I think the last couple of weeks has not only been a wake up call to Xeno, but also the rest of the top teams in Halo. Halo is a random game and as the skill gap becomes closer games depend more on spawns and who gets luckier. Look for a lot of crazy upsets at CPL.

Earlier in the season, Zyos left xeno around the time of KaeXo's return. Did he leave on good terms, or will this be the big grudge match everyone is making it out to be?

[xeno]stickgod: I think the only person who wasn't on good terms with Zyos leaving was Zyos himself. Everyone in Xeno had a lot of respect for him as one of the most dedicated and skilled players in Halo. I had some good times with Zyos personally and I wish him nothing but the best of luck. Xeno has been friendly with cG before and after Zyos joining them so I don't think he changes anything between us.

Please state your starting 5 for this match and how each player will play an important role to your success this week.

[xeno]stickgod: Eva, Jeebus, Kaexo, Oplaid and of course myself. I think everyone in Xeno will play an important role as usual. The CAL-Halo playoffs just can't be the playoffs without Xeno.

If you could pick one player on xeno to have a big performance this week, who would it be and why?

[xeno]stickgod: Look for a big frag count from Eva. That guy is a beast and I think he has finally figured out HaloCE. Not neccesarily a lot of frags, but a lot of key frags and pushes.

What do you think of Cooked Gamers as a team? What do you believe are their strengths and weaknesses and how will you prepare for them this week?

[xeno]stickgod: Honestly I havn't been keepin that good of tabs on cG. I think sidewinder is a map that could fit their playstyle pretty well. I think their best chance would be to push the battle inside, because I don't think they have the sniper v sniper ability we have.

If you could pick one player on Cooked Gamers to have a poor performance this week, who would it be and why?

[xeno]stickgod: Well I would say Zyos, but rumor has it he isn't going to be playing so whoever is going to be sniping up top for them. Because they have to snipe against Kaexo and Jeebus.

What plans does xeno have to prepare for Summer CPL 2004?

[xeno]stickgod: Well we were going to bootcamp at VAU like last year with a couple of top teams. Unfortunatly the teams that are going to VAU ignored our messages and we were forced to find another bootcamp. Animeman from Eminence has been working hard at getting something setup for us and it has turned out pretty well. So besides our big bootcamp we PLAN on picking up our online practice as well.

Demise, the 2nd placing CPL finisher last Winter, has recently returned to Halo after a long hiatus playing UT2k4. Do you think they have the time and ability to once again be a top performer?

[xeno]stickgod: I've played them and they have a lot of work to do. If anyone can do it though Demise can. Ask me again in 3 weeks and I'll let you know for sure.

Who do you think will be your biggest challenges at Summer CPL 2004 and who do you hope to face?

[xeno]stickgod: I think our biggest challenge is going to be winning CPL without Seclusion. The reason for this is for a team to win CPL you need to have three allstars. Right now we only have two being Jeebus and Kaexo. So at this point I don't think we have a chance. As far as matches I'm looking forward to.. uS on bloodgulch should be fun :o

Any last shoutouts?

[xeno]stickgod: Yeah special thanks to #mav-hosting and #wgohosting . You guys are my heros. Also if any big companies out there want to sponsor a winning mature team let us know in #xeno !
