Chris Branson's interview with Mike 'Wobs' Pankua about Element Zer0's upcoming match with Gamer's Headquarter's.
{Ez0} Wobs: We did play GHQ in the last week of the season and it was a rough time for everybody involved. GHQ easily controlled the map in the first round while we slowly adapted to their playing style. The controversy came when one of their members drove a ghost into their tunnel while there was three Ez0 members with heavies waiting to rush their base. Even greater than all the controversy from the public and within TWL, there were even greater issues within Ez0 as to what we should do about it. Ez0 has three directors for our Halo chapter: myself, Dutch, and Mr. Pink and we discussed our next actions for an extended period of time. Our reasoning for our actions was as follows: 1)Had this been week one of two of the season, it would have not been a big deal, but because this was a fight for the number 1 seed and the final week of regular play, we decided that there was no excuse. 2)At the completion of the match, GHQ admitted that one of their members drove the ghost in to the tunnel. They did not claim it lagged in or that it was blown in, but they clearly admitted that they drove it in. 3)One of their team members was at the time was an admin for the Halo League at TWL. Beyond that, we were faced with other decisions as to whether or not we wanted a forfeit win because of their error; or if we wanted to replay the 2nd half. While we would have taken the forfeit win, it didn’t feel right and we wanted to play this round out. The results of the replay were
very different than the first round. We chose to only replay the 2nd half so
we went into the replay a cap down. Since this replay was our second encounter
with GHQ we were much more prepared for their playing style and what we would
need to do to break it. We won that replay 3-2, but because of our initial deficit,
the round went into overtime. In overtime we honestly made a mistake in our
strategy. This was our first trip into OT and we decided to go for a cap while
GHQ chose to go for top 3 out of 5 kills. This allowed them to hold key positions
throughout the map without the desire to advance and they ultimately took the
win with 4 out of the top 5 fraggers. {Ez0} Wobs: Wobs - has been a member of Ez0 for a few months now, and has fit in to an excellent in and out of game leadership position. He is a great pistol shot, as well as grenade thrower. But most importantly, he plays with his head. Look for him to do well on DC. (Written by Dutch) Dutch - our best sniper. His typical position is the perch on Danger Canyon. Back in the day he was a crazy flag capper and you might see some of that instinct come out to play this week. Eejit - all around an excellent player. He hits his clutch shots like nobody’s business and tends to be a front line offensive player, although you’ll rarely seem him with the flag. He tends to suppress fire while his partner in crime runs off with it. Often you’ll see Eejit with a pistol and shotgun. C - a middle ground type player. He’ll go on a flag rush when the time presents itself, but tends to help keep control of the map. He’s a great pistol shot and also a good sniper. Look for some clutch kills from C this week. Thor - is offense, any way he can get there. He gets out of some crazy situations with the flag. Just like everyone else on the team he’s a great all around player, he can pick up a rifle and hold his own with the best of them. General - the man. Period, no question about it. At almost every practice everyone starts saying “I hate you General” because he is just so hard to kill. He play defense and is one major factor in our low cap against count this season. He’ll play defense with whatever he can get and often prefers a plasma pistol/pistol combo to play defense. What do you think GHQ's best qualities are and what are the keys for Ez0 to win the match this second time around? {Ez0} Wobs: I think GHQ’s best qualities are overall map control combined with very efficient teamwork. They are very effective at taking and holding important weapon spawn points or bottlenecks in maps, specifically the middle room and the sniper perch on Danger Canyon. The key to Ez0 taking this match will be getting Face off that perch and stopping any vehicle rushes they may attempt. {Ez0} Wobs: It would definitely have to be their sniper(s) [Face/J]. Perch control is key on this map, alerting your defense when an attack is imminent, controlling the bottom FRG, and taking out any vehicles/people that make their way through the bottom or top. If we can control the perch, we can have easy vehicle access to their base. {Ez0} Wobs: We have had practice every night for the last two weeks and will for the remainder of this week in preparation for whatever match we had coming up. We run specific drills and always play our match team outnumbered against all the other available members. Imagine defending the Danger Canyon base against 10 of your teammates with nothing but the weapons you spawn with. We are also looking for anyone that would scrim us any evening. The outcome of this round will only be different from the first round. We won the second half replay 3-2 and plan to win both rounds this time around. {Ez0} Wobs: We love you Britney Spears!! *(added by Gage, since they didn't include a shout-out!) |

Well, congratulations on a well-earned place in the TWLCTFPro Finals, tackling every single opponent with the exception of the team you are going to face in the finals, Gamer's HDQ (now under the name Team One). What is Ez0's feelings towards the upcoming match?
