Halo 3: CTFPro Interview: `gH Dukie & `gH UpYourz

Chris Branson's interview with Justin 'Dukie' Raducha & Anthony 'upyourz' Pacitti about Gamer's Headquarter's upcoming match with Element Zer0.

Justin 'Dukie' Raducha & Anthony 'upyourz' PacittiWell, congratulations on a well-earned place in the TWLCTFPro Finals, taking down every single opponent you've faced this season!! What is GHQ's feelings towards the upcoming match?

Gamer's HDQ:
Well we've worked long and hard to get this far in the season. Its been tough on a lot of our members with their lives outside of halo, as we try to practice as often as possible. I know every single player in Gamers Headquarters is pumped for this match. We'll be ready, you can be sure of that, but even if we do come out second, it will still be awesome that we made it this far. I wish good luck to EzO, and we're VERY excited for this match.

GHQ plays on both CAL and TWL. As a member of the CAL Halo Assault League, GHQ hasn't faired as well as they have on TWL, where your team participates not only in the CTFPro League but also is doing very well in the CTF and Assault ladders. Your record suggests that your team might be the best CTF team out there, period, and CTF is a completely different game than Assault. Why does GHQ excel more in CTF than they do in Assault, and which game type do you prefer?

Gamer's HDQ:
It really depends on the separate members when it comes to preference. As a team we are pretty flexible as far as game types. A large part of us not doing as well on CAL was just the fact that we were in fact in 3 leagues at TWL as well (if you don't count slayer 5v5 and 2v2 that we were in towards the start of CAL season 2 also). Many of the CAL teams were strictly CAL, and could therefore concentrate more on just those matches. As a team we decided that we really liked the TWL community and wanted to stay with it, so we did both CAL and TWL , and I suppose that's what hurt our CAL performance. So it was more of a league preference than a game type preference (we're also currently #1 on the TWL assault ladder too).

You faced Ez0 in the last week of the season, on the same map you will be facing them on this week. During that match, you were playing for the #1 seed as teams went into the playoffs, and won it in overtime. There was some controversy during the match, and it's hard to say if that affected the outcome of the match. What was GHQ's side of the story concerning the controversy, and what happened during the replayed map?

Gamer's HDQ: Well the controversy was over a ghost that had been blown inside the tunnel by our base during the second round. We tried to remove it, but EzO members were waiting at the top with a constant barrage of Fuel rod and rocket fire, and were able to get a screen shot. A dispute was filed, but we were happy to agree to replay the second round. I have to say we went into the rematch underestimating EzO though (after the 5-1 first game outcome), and had a tough time keeping them at bay. We tied up at 3-3 overall score and went into overtime, and in the end won by kills (TWL rule: In the event of a tie there will be a 10 min round, first one to capture the flag wins. If after the 10 mins. If there is still a tie then the team with 3 out of the top five in the end map rankings wins). So it was definitely a close game.

Would you please list each player that is scheduled to play in the upcoming match, what position they usually play (or weapon of choice), and any great moments or clutch plays they've experienced during this season:

Gamer's HDQ:

Finch - capper, tunnel assist - a late season pickup to replace dukie as head capper as hes on 56K for the summer.

Face - sniper - cliffs - another late season pickup and a great addition to the team.

Vampier - tunnel duty/backup capper - heavies/pistol - trust me... you don't want to meet this Puerto Rican terror in the DC tunnels.

Ex-S- defense/tunnel backup - what can I say... this guy is awesome on defense, and has saved our butt many a time.

J- lower middle structure - road defense/offensive rush - one of our best pistolers and offense guys.

OhBilly- offense/tunnels - pistol - middle tunnel room - this guy has been with us along with vampier from the very beginning. He wields a mean pistol as many people have found out... definitely one of our MVPs

What do you think Ez0's best qualities are and what are the keys for GHQ to win the match this second time around?

Gamer's HDQ: EzO is all around a great bunch of guys that can play a really good game of halo. They have very good coordination team wise and some good strats to carry out with that teamwork. EzO's roster is gigantic as you may have noticed so we really have no way of knowing who will be playing, but IM almost positive we will definitely be seeing Mr.Pink and Wobs there, and we're definitely going to have to keep tabs on those two. GHQ is going to prepare extra hard for this match (I'm sure EzO will be also), and I think we have a good chance of winning as long as we work together and communicate our strats to each other well.

Which Ez0 member would you like to see have a bad match and why?

Gamer's HDQ: Why would we want that? We would never like to see anyone have a bad match (although we have all had them). We expect an excellent match out of all of EzO's players, and IM sure they feel the same way about our guys. We're looking for one of the greatest matches of our team's history this week, and expect nothing less.

What will GHQ be doing to prepare for the match next Wednesday and why do you think this will be the same outcome as the last time your 2 teams met?

Gamer's HDQ: We will be practicing extra hard of course to prepare for the upcoming match, and are getting scrims ever chance we can. We're putting all of our efforts into preparing for this match, and you can be sure we'll be ready. All of our members are extra psyched for this game, and I'm sure EzO's members feel no differently. All we can do is prepare and hope that we will come out on top. Our teams are VERY evenly matched, so look for an extremely tough and action packed game from both of our teams.

Any shout outs?

Gamer's HDQ:

* Gage from the TWL staff - this guys has put tons of time and effort into getting changes made around the TWL community that have made the experience better for all the teams involved. Thanks a lot Gage!

* Tripped and Succubus from TWL staff - you guys were great at your job, sometimes the calls you had to make weren't easy, but someone had to make them... good or bad, and you two did an excellent job upholding the rules while taking the flack from many a disappointed team. Thank you.

* Element Zero {EzO} - you guys are a great bunch of guys with a ton of skill, definitely don't slack off. However this match comes out know that we will always respect you guys and will be on friendly terms. Good luck in our upcoming match!
