May 12, 2005 – San Diego – Razer USA, a leading manufacturer of high-end precision gaming peripherals has agreed to become a sponsor the Cyberathlete Professional League® World Tour 2005.

Razer is the national sponsor for the only USA stop on the tour, at the Cyberathlete® Extreme Summer Championships 2005, to be held at the Gaylord Texan Resort in Dallas, Texas this July. Razer’s award- winning Diamondback™ Mouse has also been selected as the “Official Mouse” for the CPL 2005 World Tour.

This partnership marks the second time that Razer has been associated with the CPL. In 2000, Razer sponsored the Razer CPL Event in Dallas, Texas, where the largest prize purse in competitive gaming at the time, $100,000, was awarded.

“Razer is proud and excited to renew its association with the CPL and the World Tour,” says Robert Krakoff, president, Razer USA. “We were a part of history at the 2000 Razer/CPL tournament, and now with $1million in prize money up for grabs, it’s awesome to know that Razer will be part of history once again in 2005.”

Boasting the largest competitive purse in gaming history, the 2005 CPL World Tour is the first year-long competitive gaming tournament, with tour stops in nine countries crossing four continents. Round One of the tournament kicked off this past March in Istanbul, Turkey. Round two was recently completed earlier this month in Barcelona, Spain, with Round three scheduled for late May in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
