The CPL announced today the launch of the online registration for the eighth World Tour stop, in Milan, Italy. This stop will take place Friday, October 20 to Sunday, October 23, 2005 during the Smau 2005 convention at the Milan Fair Portello halls.
The Italy Stop will feature a $50,000 32-person one-versus-one Painkiller tournament. Competition spots are $60 per person. This stop will not have a BYOC area.

Competitor Information for the Italy CPL World Tour Stop

The Italy CPL World Tour Stop will be taking place in a different environment than previous World Tour stops. Because of this, it is important for competitors to know and understand the following information:

The Italy Word Tour stop will be taking place in the middle of Smau in Milan, Italy. Over the course of the trade show, more than three million people will travel throughout the exhibits. With the allowed booth layouts, spectators will be 2-3 meters away from the competitors. This means it will be loud. If noise is a concern for you, the CPL recommends that you purchase a pair of noise canceling headphones.

This World Tour stop is taking place at a large trade show. There will be limited hours for tournaments. You will be responsible for knowing the schedule and adhering to it. If you are not set-up and ready by the start time, CPL will promptly forfeit the match. Competitors must be ready to start their matches at the times posted. It may take upwards of one full hour to walk from one side of the event to the tournament booth. Please keep this in mind if you decide to leave the tournament area. There is no paging system at this trade show.

Also, the tournament area will be subject to bright lighting conditions. There is no way for CPL to turn the lighting levels down. Therefore, glare on some systems is unavoidable and competitors will not be able to choose specific systems and/or stations for competition.

The Italy CPL World Tour stop should prove that professional gamers can handle the audience, distractions and adverse environment that occasionally are part of all professional sports.
