PainKiller: Gellehsak stuns Fatal1ty

By: Philip Yoe - Published October 28, 2005 at 10:51 AM EDT - Writer Archive
The final CPL World Tour stop in Santiago, Chile is officially underway. This will be the last stop before the Finals in November in New York City.
The ninth and final CPL 2005 World Tour stop in Santiago, Chile has begun. This is the third CPL stop in as many weeks. Netherlands Sander "Vo0" Kaasjager will be looking to make it two wins in a row and defend his title that he won last week in Milan, Italy. United States Johnathan "Fatal1ty" Wendel will want to keep the alternating pattern alive and recapture the World Tour title. Since CPL Sweden, both players have alternated winning stops with Vo0 winning in Sweden, UK and Italy, and Fatal1ty answering with victories in the USA and Singapore stop. According to several sources, many top players including United States Sean "daler" Price, United Kingdom David "Zaccubus" Treacy, Russia Alexey "Lexer" Nesterov and United States Brian "zen" Grapatin will not be in attendance due to various reasons.

Full tournament brackets can be found here.

i dont see why you display the overall frag scores, you win by maps won not by an aggregate score so thats fairly meaningless

wd for getting scores on individual maps though ;o

Looks like ztrider's picking up where he left off and playing very, very well.

Great to see gelleh knocking fat down to the lower bracket. I'll still be surprised if we don't see a fat vs vo0 final. Great showing (again) for fnatic though.

gellle has been doing steadily better and better as the WT has gone on...I think it was inevitable that he take a match from a big name.

Vo0 lost to ztrider, meaning Vo0 and fatal1ty are now fighting head-to-head just to stay in the competition rather for the championship!
