PainKiller: Fnatic finish in Chile

By: Philip Yoe - Published October 30, 2005 at 1:10 AM EST - Writer Archive
Vo0? Fatal1ty? The two players that were expected to battle it out in the finals are nowhere to be seen. Both have been eliminated and we will see two new faces in the Grand Finals. Fnatic teammates, gellehsak and ztrider, will face off in the CPL Chile Finals.
For the first time ever in the CPL 2005 World Tour, Sander "Vo0" Kaasjager will not be playing in the Finals. Also, in another stunning turn of events, Johnathan "Fatal1ty" Wendel will also not be in the Grand Finals. Kaasjager was eliminated by teammate Andrew "gellehsak" Ryder in the Lower Bracket Finals after losing to his other fnatic teammate, Alexander "ztrider" Ingarv. Wendel was taken down by Kaasjager after losing to Ryder in the third round of the Upper Bracket. All fnatic members teamed up to take out the two biggest names (including one of their own, Vo0) in the tournament.

Both gellehsak and ztrider are highly skilled players and have been consistently in the top 10 at all of the World Tour stops. Today in Santiago, Chile, the two will battle it out for $15,000 USD and head into the World Tour Finals next month in New York with a lot of momentum. Vo0 defeated Benjamin "zyz" Bohrmann in the Consolation Finals and has ensured a fnatic 1, 2, 3 finish for the first time ever.

The finals are scheduled to take place at 9:00am EST (6:00am PST) due to daylight savings time. Stay tuned to GotFrag for all the score updates.
