Vo0? Fatal1ty? The two players that were expected to battle it out in the finals are nowhere to be seen. Both have been eliminated and we will see two new faces in the Grand Finals. Fnatic teammates, gellehsak and ztrider, will face off in the CPL Chile Finals. For the first time ever in the CPL 2005 World Tour, Sander "Vo0" Kaasjager will not be playing in the Finals. Also, in another stunning turn of events, Johnathan "Fatal1ty" Wendel will also not be in the Grand Finals. Kaasjager was eliminated by teammate Andrew "gellehsak" Ryder in the Lower Bracket Finals after losing to his other fnatic teammate, Alexander "ztrider" Ingarv. Wendel was taken down by Kaasjager after losing to Ryder in the third round of the Upper Bracket. All fnatic members teamed up to take out the two biggest names (including one of their own, Vo0) in the tournament. Both gellehsak and ztrider are highly skilled players and have been consistently in the top 10 at all of the World Tour stops. Today in Santiago, Chile, the two will battle it out for $15,000 USD and head into the World Tour Finals next month in New York with a lot of momentum. Vo0 defeated Benjamin "zyz" Bohrmann in the Consolation Finals and has ensured a fnatic 1, 2, 3 finish for the first time ever. The finals are scheduled to take place at 9:00am EST (6:00am PST) due to daylight savings time. Stay tuned to GotFrag for all the score updates. Full tournament brackets can be found here. Well played Fnatic.
Good job on the win Ztrider.
Strange w/ Vo0 and Fatal1ty though.
i dont think it should be too difficult to comprehend that me and ztrider were playing very well this stop, especially ztrider. look at his scores vs everyone he played.
and we here on the pk team play competitively with every opponent, teammate or not.
congrats to gelleshack good to see a canadian doing well.
I'm just saying it is possible like #26 said, that's why I added maybe at the end. Let VoO take the first crack at taking Fatal1ty out of the tournament completely rather than letting him go through the loser braket to another possible VoO vs Fatal1ty final like we've seen repeated. Lot of other sports do it. It is the smart thing for a team to do in order for better overall team placement.
But, you've voiced what is the truth, there was nothing that happened, so I guess all speculations can be put to rest. The competition has actually started to really tighten as far as we can tell from the results at Chile. Too bad that it got exciting towards the end of the tour, meaning that the results aren't as predictable.
I'm sorry if what I said tarnished what your team accomplished in Chile. I didn't mean to. Please accept my apologies. Again, congrats.
