GotFrag`s Jason “Alchemist” Baker joins TsN`s Bridger, Harlock and Hoo in interviewing the president of the CPL, Angel Munoz, about CS 1.6 being the world tour game. Angel hints at Quake 4's chances of being on the tour. Mr. Munoz also drops hints about the CAL tournament that will be unveiled in September. Tune in as the crew grills Angel about the details.
I'm sure he checked out Quake 4 at QuakeCon... And I'm sure you can trust ID Software to make a good sequal to the quake series. Doom III was different... Doom has never been a primarily multiplayer game... I think it accomplished what it set out to be, a good sequal to Doom II.
Quake 4, from the movies, looked to be pretty good. They seemed to of reworked the D3 engine beautifully. It appeared to play smooth and fast.

On topic... Great interview. I'm really looking forward to 2007 (beyond 2006). I'm really interested in how his efforts to make the CPL into more of a league than it has been will turn out. I'm also really glad he made it clear how supportive Valve has been. I've been trying to get that point across for a long time now that Valve DOES listen... They just have a different perspective, different priorities and a different mindset.
i completely agree with delight... and yea valve has a completely different point of view than really anyone here, they are not gamers really, nor do they play competetively... i think of them as buisness people who play games
when did he 'use' CS:S, he put it on the Summer CPL...and it had a good tournament, it just didn't have the international support that 1.6 dose, and you need that for a WORLD tour...source isn't dead by far...
#warsow.na on quakenet * #3 where does your mother come from? Zimbabwe ?
with the history that Quake has had, and the impact it has made on the gaming world as far as mulitplayer competition, Q4 would be far from a gamble to use at the next CPL event. I'm willing to bet that Q4 sets a record for most games sold.
Even tho he did kinda hint at quake 4, he continues to say we will play the games the community is behind, and to me that sounds like since quake4 would be a new game that he would not play it. But i guess we will just have to wait and see.
or maybe he's talking with iD about q3 / cpma. It's by far the best, most popular and most exciting 1v1 dm game, not to mention pretty much the entire community is behind it. Which he said is what he's going for.
#2: He was at quakecon his year, and he did get to play Quake IV. If I remember correctly (don't quote me on this) he said it was an awesome fast paced game (or something along those lines). So he's not basing it on hype, he actually played the game and found out how good of a canidate it really is.

Painkiller had been out for over 6 months before he decided to pick it as WT game, infact maybe longer.
