Welcome to GotFrag Version 3!



GotFrag Version 3 is an enormous upgrade at many levels. It represents many, many changes for the GotFrag site. As with all things, I expect that the changes will be welcomed by some, condemned by some, and ignored by the rest. Personally, having been involved in the concept, design and implementation of the Version 3 site since we launched Version 2; I love it.

Version 3, or more simply, V3, comprises the experiences and lessons learned from Version 2, infrastructure much needed for our growth, and many requests, compliments and criticisms from you, our community. It also represents the blood, sweat, and tears (tissues please!) of many, many people. It is important to note, that V3 is not just a new design or new features, it is a new GotFrag and I’d like to take a moment to thank the people involved in this project and this website.

First and foremost, ReconGamer.com for being a great partner and providing us with the best bandwidth, hosting and support. Jonathan, Sindre and Brian’s unflagging commitment to our growth can only be expected from a company that was founded as one of the first Game Server Providers. They remain a leading GSP today, and GotFrag is very grateful to have them as a partner. Remember that every link you click, article you read, and demo you download is served to you over ReconGamer's network.

Secondly, Surreal-Media, for designing an amazing site that more than satisfies very strict usability requirements and, simultaneously, looks awesome. Surreal-Media also designed the new GotFrag Logos, affectionately dubbed the “G” and the “Peepz” while having to deal with our amazing creative direction: “no, I don’t like that and I don’t know why” and “can you make it cooler?” were among our more insightful feedback.

To Joe “Joeker” Hoffend for managing a dozen different opinions at the same time while still keeping us focused on an end product—The LOGO.

To Phil “AZTK” Therien for constantly making our text come alive with the best headline and media graphics online.

To Scott “SirScoots” Smith for reminding us every day that it's not just a job, but a passion for eSports that drives us. And for making sure the entire staff stays in the loop on the launch.

To Jason “Anomoly” Bass for delivering on everything he promises. And for making sure that V3 supports the staff as much as the community. What else can I say? He's the Editor-in-Chief--he does everything.

To Trevor “Midway” Schmidt for being the bull of reason in the china shop of hectic growth. V3 is primarily this man’s brainchild, and there are many reasons to applaud him for his contributions.

To Jason Coene for burning the midnight oil… every night for the last I-don’t-know-how-long and delivering a completely overhauled and new codebase for V3. And for being one of the most talented, creative and diligent people that I know, not to mention anticipating my requests on more occasions than I can count.

To the entire GotFrag staff, TeK, Keemo, Jesuit, Roman, Alchemist, Moose, Karpov, residuel, Summit and many, many others, thank you for bringing together all of the input and experience in using our backend Content Management System day-in and day-out and demanding that we give them better. And for devoting hours of hard work and great ideas to the site.... and shuddap about “when can I see v3?”—You saw it, we launched it, and it’s here! Lookit!!!

And finally, to our community—the fans, the athletes, the leagues and the events, for forcing us to grow, for demanding better and more. All of us at GotFrag thank you for being a part of this site and for being the best community in eSports.

I think that you’ll share my enthusiasm for Version 3. V3 encompasses features which will be familiar to many of you. But it also has new features which we wanted to take the time to highlight for you. Layered on top of GotFrag's proprietary content delivery and management system sits a design developed by Surreal-Media and powered by ReconGamer's network to make finding the news and features you want easier, cleaner and better looking than Version 2.

A few quick notes on V3:

1) Your Version 2 username and password will still work. So definitely log in and start exploring the site!
2) Your post counts and private messages are intact.
3) Across the top bar is the GotFrag Network bar, where you'll find links to important sections of our site.

Among its many new features are:

-New layout and design focused on delivering the hottest news and coverage
-Game Scoreboards for up-to-date coverage
-Reworked demos page for finding your favorite match faster and easier
-Improved user messaging for improved community interaction
-New Forums for all you trolls and lurkers (no, I'm not encouraging you to do either! Post! Interact!)
-Faster Content Delivery System to assure the site loads faster and better
-New Content Management System for our staff
-Make sure you set your timezone in your profile, as all displays of times for matches and score reporting is now localized to your timezone!
-And much, much more.
