Over the next few weeks GotFrag will be surveying the state of eSports in Asian countries. How far behind (or ahead of) the times are they? ![]() What exactly is going on then when all of a sudden Korea takes 2nd at CPL and WEG3 while China takes 1st at WEG3? And did anyone remember Kazakhstan getting 2nd while Malaysia got 5-8th at WCG? Why now? Why did the Asian teams not make such a dramatic appearance earlier? How come after the Americans and Europeans finally settled down into their comfy chairs did the Asians put them back on their feet again? In this article I will discuss some of the reasons how and why this invasion is taking place, as well as the commercial and sociological implications of the issue. So, help me by helping yourself in removing yourself from the effects of ethnocentrism and adopt an acceptance of cultural relativity as we go on a long journey and indulge in new social integration. |

That made me smile. LOL
I'm from HK as well. Coming from an upper class family myself, I can safetly say that you have perfectly depicted my situation as it is.
GJ Mike, keep it coming.
nah im kidding.its true soon the top teams will be asian.
nice read
And people, he DID say he was making a lot of generalizations. How can you not when writing a piece like this? I think it was well written and am looking forward to the next one.
And korea... even though everyone has heard gaming is so popular over there, you won't truly understand it until you've experienced it yourself. They've got two network tv stations that broadcast gaming related progarms 24/7, ongamenet, and MBC game. Here's two matches of Lim Yo-Hwan (slayers boxer) that were aired on TV. You can see the subtle differences of how we watch our matches over here compared to them lol.

im going to ihops to get some grits
its similiar to CS here in a way... its the game that has the most average players understanding and following it, the game with the most momentum behind it at the moment. its much more socially acceptable to play games in korea though. its not uncommon for businessmen to come home after work and play a few games, or housewives to play.
It doesn't matter if they live in asia or any other part of the world...they're still asian jesuit
Afterall China alone has 90 million internet users, combined with the rest of Asia the growing invlovement of Asian players in international tournaments is good news for all, as this sport continues to develop towards it's potential.
USA will always have top teams, Europe will always have top teams the only difference is Asia will likely have top teams also now. Will everyone please stop acting like they are going to sweep and dominate the game because they wont they are simply adding them selfs to a long list of contenders.
so have loads of countries...
you forgot to mention that they play 23/24 hours per day tho, and they are much more mannered ppl then us/eu not alot clanjumping and backstabbing teammates, they are nicer to other players aswell as humble
