All Games: WCG 06 SEC Day 3 Melee

By: Marc Turner - Published March 10, 2006 at 5:39 PM EST - Writer Archive
Day two of the World Cyber Games Samsung European Championships has completed in the Counter Strike Source tournament. The competition heats up as the event moves into day three.

(Germany) - Day two of the World Cyber Games Samsung European Championships saw some very stiff competition in the Counter Strike Source tournament. Day three looks to be the same. Some scorebots were made available and should be available for day three. In somewhat of a surprise, the Russian squad has been sent to the lower brackets by Slovakia. Poland, Spain, Slovakia and Romania remain undefeated.

Six other games are being played at the event with live video coverage of some of the other games. More information can be found at http://ec.wcg-europe.com/news and #wcg-europe.com on the Quakenet IRC network.

Funny, it's not random in CAL or CEVO. Or CPL, for the most part. The same teams that always dominate, dominate, and the same teams that always lose, lose.

You only see random results in the WCG tournaments because ignorant 1.6 players pick up Source and think they'll be just as good at it as they are at 1.6 without hardly practicing. Then they are promptly abused of this notion.

Thus, teams like Russia get upset by teams like Slovakia, and teams like Germany find themselves in the lower bracket. They can keep being ignorant and blame Source, or they can be intelligent and blame themselves for not practicing Source enough, which is, of course, the reality.

#24 i think it's more the fans who are blaming source, not the teams who are actually playing. "mouz" for instance was well aware of the fact that they didn't practise source enough. but how should they? with all the 1.6 (online) events (like ec, cscl and ep) being under way, it's hard to focus on another game, especially when two players in your team are playing in different 1.6 clans having their own matches going on.

Man I'm impressed by Poland, made finals in upper and now finals in lower.

I wish I could watch my brothers play!!!

And their match vs Spain was close as it seems so, I predict they will win lower and go back play spain and win that shizzle!!
