The Electronic Sports World Cup has recently reported some disturbing news regarding the recently concluded Canadian preliminary qualifiers. The press release states that the Canada qualifier "has been removed temporarily from the ESWC website until the company holder of the Canadian qualifier licence for 2006, submit to its contractual obligations regarding the ESWC OC and the qualified teams and players."

As a result, all information regarding the Canadian qualifiers have been removed from the ESWC website. It is unsure as to how this will effect the competitors that have successfully qualified to compete at the ESWC Grand Finals this summer in Paris, France. Please stay tuned to GotFrag as this situation develops and we will update this as more information is received from the parties involved.

ESWC OC want insure that the gaming operator of the event Lan ETS is not related to this issue and that every effort to resolve the issue in favour of the players are made.

Seems like ESWC doesn't want to pay for the Canadians. I'd like to hear what these "contractual obligations" would entail.

tfl didn't run the qualifier, nor did they have anything to do with this.

This is why you don't let Quebec do anything...

Keep it out of Frenchland and all will be well. Let's just hope ESWC punishes those people and still acknowledges that EG won and pays for them like they should.

you know where the problem is

Here is what I figure went down. ESWC gets a call from a French Canadian LAN organization; they say they want to hold ESWC Canadian Qualification. ESWC tells them it will cost you like $20,000 or so for the rights to the Canadian Qualification (pay for trips + fee to ESWC) they say "ok" but we pay after the LAN so we have the money.

My guess they don't have the money. YIKES!! Bad news for EG!

mis a part 1 personne qui a parler du eswc �tant francais de france, personne a fait de relation avec la france et le quebec/quebecois. p-e tu devrais re-lire les posts... au moins la majorit� des qu�b�cois parlent anglais, pas comme vous en france. lol jadore de la facon que vous parlez anglais, c'est vrai. perso jtrouve ca vraiment mais vraiment drole. mais bon ces pas le point. pour revenir a mon point, tes pas tres fut� s�rieux. jte repete, lis un peu avant de texciter.

Well, I am the Coordinator of LAN ETS, the event that held the ESWC Canadian National Qualifiers.
First let me say : We have nothing to do with the current situation, we have been hired by the licence holder to take care of the tournaments and that's it !!! So my good friend henderson, next time you want to make false accusations on a situation you don't understand and over which you have no information what so ever, you should stay quiet!
