CEVO released their newest map de_forge this week. IceCream breaks down what can be expected from this new version of cbble. ![]() "My goal for de_forge was to design a map that kept the most important elements from de_cbble, as well as adding more options for terrorists to choose from. I wanted to keep the integrity of cbble throughout the map, add my own style, and make the map more appealing visually." Competitive play on this map starts in less than a week so let’s take a look at what's been changed. Team Spawns The Terrorist spawn has been revamped completely. There is no longer a tower on the terrorist side and all of the routes exiting T spawn are changed. Also, all the spawn points are on the ground so you no longer get the split-level T spawns as on cbble. The spawns are also slightly closer to the halls and to T mid. To counter that, the CT spawn has been moved up, which makes it even and speeds up the game play by taking out the excessive distances that needed to be run when leaving the spawns. ![]() If you exit spawn towards the right, you can go through the halls like in the old cbble or head out to the terrorists side of middle. There are some minor changes to the hallway, but once you walk through it you will see that it's basically the same thing. The only big change is a new route to B, but we'll come back to that. ![]() Terrorist's Middle Area ![]() As you can see, the window room for the CT's has been removed but the rest of the area has only received some aesthetic changes. The layout of the middle ramp and A halls are almost identical designs to de_cbble, but without the ladder of window room up top. What this does is dramatically limit the amount of areas that the terrorist side has to worry about checking. On de_cbble, working through middle on terrorist required you to either be extremely noisy and spam every possible spot, or use up almost all of your smokes and flashes just to get through the area. Now this isn't a problem and various strategies can be used. This change also allows the map to be played faster due to limited areas that the terrorists now have to check. |

Thank God sain people still exist...
Very good read and overview of the map. As always, IceCream wins.
1.the bombsite A still can be totally covered with 2 cts.One awp inside "old orange door" can watch terrorist coming either ramp or another door...the other can use A to B new route on A spawn to watch both way.The new route only serve to connect more fast the 2 bombsites...
2.as de_cbble,de_forge only has 2 "true" ways to each bomsite without pass trough another bomsite:Bombsite A-ramp and door,Bombsite B new botom way and that old way same as cbble. The route coming from A bombsite only has a connection purpouse to reach that ramp door and give another way to reach that awp spot in B...teams that reach A with the bomb will never use it
3.i think a 3rd route to A should be done...i suggest that purple house with white roof and a door in A should be a new route, like that cpl_mill door route in bombsite B
4.anyway,top teams should play the map and give their opinions
I find it somewhat ridiculous that CEVO would use this map without letting the community fully test it first, and give its opinion. Im assuming cevo staff tested it, but they should have opened it to the public before making it the official map for use in their league.
map load failed: de_forge not found or invalid
=(
but it probally wont catch on to other leagues
good breakdown icecream :)

hope this works, gimme forge!
IceCream broke down forge ie. b,t spawn,a and yea
Basically in design, you should not include something if it has no purpose. T spawn seems to have meaningless additions in the mini room with the ladder/truck. Although this is by no means a huge deal, I would like to see T spawn toned down into a more simplistic form.
And, I do agree with the bombsite B critiques. Seems like a very difficult site to defend now. However, I have yet to scrim or pug on this so these are only my opinions based on the layout - I have not tested this out.
Overall, good work and hats off to Brute and CEVO.
