(Taipei, TAIWAN, R.O.C) – June 16, 2006 – With over 130,000 visitors, Computex Taipei brings in visitors from all over the world. This year, Asia’s largest IT show was also the venue for KODE5’s first Regional Qualifier – KODE5 Taiwan. Located in Hall 2 at the Foxconn booth, KODE5 Taiwan invited Taiwan’s top 4 Counter-Strike teams for one final battle with the goal of determining the team that represents Taiwan at the KODE5 Global Finals in September. In addition, KODE5 Taiwan also held the KODE5 Fox Hunt, a contest where Taiwan’s top 3 female gaming teams faced off for over $40,000 NTD in cash. After 5 straight days of intense gaming action, FSK managed to defeat FF in the KODE5 Taiwan finals by coming back from the loser’s bracket, while ECM.Female trampled S.O.S to take first place in the KODE5 Fox Hunt. With support from Foxconn and Corsair Memory, KODE5 Taiwan was a rousing success, drawing in record crowds that cheered for their favorites. The KODE5 Global Gaming Revolution, supported globally by Foxconn and Corsair Memory, takes competitive gaming to an international stage with events being held in 20+ countries worldwide.

The KODE5 Fox Hunt invited gamers from around the world to vote for their favorite of 6 Taiwanese gaming teams over two week period. In the end, Cyzak3n, ECM.Female, and S.O.S received the lion’s share of the votes, and during the first two days were filled with competitive gaming, courtesy of Taiwan’s top 3 female gaming teams. The scores after two days of competition were:

Cyzak3n = 26 points
ECM.Female = 33 points
S.O.S = 31 points

With Cyzak3n eliminated, it was up to ECM.Female and S.O.S to battle for the first place prize on Saturday. In the end, ECM.Female managed to trample over S.O.S with a final score of 8-2, and got to walk away with a check for $30,000 NTD, courtesy of Foxconn. S.O.S received the $12,000 NTD second-place prize for their efforts.

With the KODE5 Fox Hunt decided, the stage was set to bring on the final two Counter-Strike teams for KODE5 Taiwan: FF and FSK. Having lost their first match up against FF, FSK rallied to battle their way back from the loser’s bracket, earning the right to face FF once more to determine the champion. Of course, they would have to win two matches in a row in order to be declared the winner.

Of course, Computex isn’t all about gaming, with the girls from Foxconn handing out giveaways and Corsair Memory coming around to entertain the crowd at half-time. With thumping music and amazing dance skills, the excitement in the crowd reached a fever-pitch.

As the KODE5 Taiwan Counter-Strike Finals got under way, FF could feel their momentum slipping away as FSK managed to beat FF 16-10 on de_train, forcing another match up to determine the winner. In the end, FSK dug down deep and continued their winning streak, defeating FF on de_nuke 16-11, and claiming the title as KODE5 Taiwan Counter-Strike Champions. FF settles for 2nd place, winning come terrific motherboards from Foxconn, while 3rd place Aseity received some high-performance memory from Corsair Memory.

“It was a Herculean effort from FSK, battling back from the loser’s bracket to take the title,” notes KODE5 Revolutionary Plotter Coco Lee. “We wish them the best of luck when they represent Taiwan at the KODE5 Global Finals in September.”

After the final Counter-Strike matchup, the KODE5 Warcraft III finalists also came by to claim their prizes and also pose for some pictures for their new fans.
