All Games: ESWC announces seed pools

By: Luis Mira - Published June 24, 2006 at 2:03 PM EDT - Writer Archive
The seeds for the upcoming ESWC have been released.
With the final event of the ESWC just ahead, the organisation has just announced the seeds for the competition. There will be four pools, top, high, medium and challengers pools, out of which the competitiors will be randomly drawn.

Each group will consist of one player/team per top, high and medium pools and three to five participants from the challengers pool, depending on the tournament. During the first draw, if a player is drawn and his nationality is already represented, that player is put aside and will be replaced by another participant.

Participants are seeded into the draw pools according to a rating of each country’s strength and the results of each national final. Below you will find the official pools for the ESWC 2006.

SoA and attax in top seed pool because they won their qualifiers, dont forget Fnatic lost to NiP and has the 2nd swedish spot. The pools seem pretty accurate to me.

oh and go 3D !!

#10, yup, people fail to read instructions. The reason fnatic is in the high seed pool is because there already is a Swedish team (NIP) in the top seed pool.

I know this won't get a good reception but I can't honestly understand how USA has 2 spots in the top seed pool (when no other countries do) and Norway doesn't have any. :o

I would not want Aftermath, DRW or Pentagram in my group. It looks like this year is truly going to be a battle for the top two in in each group, at least in half of the groups.

It seems like a lot of you don't understand that they didn't seed the teams induvidually, they seeded the countries then allocated the spots from the national results. They didn't put XXX over YYY they put county X's 1st spot over country Y's 2nd spot etc.

damnnn...

#13 Because Complexity doesn't count as a country selection, they won last year's ESWC and have an automatic bid. That's why you see JMC and 3D also attending...2 US teams + winner of last year's tournament.

so this doesnt mean that all the top seed teams have 2 play eachother 1st round does it? cuz that would suck having a lot of the best teams out after the first round.....

attax should receive top seed because, as europium said, they seed countries and not teams - therefor with mouz placing 3th\4th in ESWC 2005 it makes sense, same with Denmark because SK.dk finished 2nd last year and 1st in 2004.

Hi, I'm not sure I understood how you set the draws and seedinds, tell me if i got it stright.

Best teams are seeded into 3 pools top, high and medium,
are they seeded there in a draw ? (did a draw set they will be in a certain pool ? is the top pool considerd better than medium ?

After they are seeded, each house will contain 1 team from each pool and 3 to 5 teams from the challengers pool ? (pool of teams who are not seeded ? )

will the houses combinations will be radndomly ? and if so by what means is the random action throwen ?

#45, top seeds are considered better than medium seeds. These are not decided by a draw. Challengers are unseeded. Groups will be decided by draw.
