Registration for Dallas event also goes live on the website.
NEW YORK – April 24, 2007 – The World Series of Video Games (WSVG), Presented by Intel, the world circuit of video game tournaments, announced today that the rules governing gameplay during this season’s competitions and the point system that will assign seeding have been posted on the organization’s website http://www.thewsvg.com. Specific gameplay regulations for this year’s featured titles, which include Blizzard Entertainment®’s “World of Warcraft: The Burning Crusade®,” EA SPORTS™ “Fight Night Round 3”, and Activision’s “Guitar Hero II™,” are available in full detail on the website. Additionally, registration for the upcoming Dallas event on July 5-8, 2007 has begun.

In a new twist to this season’s competitions, winners from each event will win points based on their performance in each city, in effect earning a seeding for future events, much as competitors place positions in NASCAR or Formula One Racing for future races.

The World Series of Video Games “tour points” will be awarded to players based on their final official placement at each event, to apply to future events. The top four finishers from each event will also receive travel bonuses to compete at the next tour event. At the end of the last tour event, the players with the top eight point totals will be invited to the finals.

Tour Points are applied in the following manner:

* 1st place: 1000 Points
* 2nd place: 900 Points
* 3rd place: 825 Points
* 4th place: 750 Points
* 5th place: 700 Points
* 6th place: 650 Points
* 7th place: 600 Points
* 8th place: 550 Points
* 9th - 12th place: 450 Points
* 13th - 16th place: 350 Points
* 17th - 24th place: 250 Points
* 25th - 32nd place: 150 Points
