The Cyberathlete Professional League has cancelled the Australian World Tour stop. However, on Supanova's official website, a staff member explained that the CPL and Sierra USA have decided to cancel the event without the consultation of Supanova itself. Moreover, on the CPL event page, the Australian event is marked as "complete". The CPL has not commented on this issue yet, so stay tuned to GotFrag.com for a reaction from them. |

but with this being the 2nd time cpl has done this to aus now, not exactly surprised. thx guys.
(1) Losing their regular sponsors (rumour has it they asked for too much $)
(2) Having a game publisher sponsor them now (who will force shi.tty non competitive games on them)
(3) And as a result cause the real competitive games like CS to be given low priority.
Do I blame the CPL for what they have done over the last year? Not at all. They had done a lot for eSports to help it grow and let other organisations become.
I believe the CPL wanted to take a different route and test the waters, probably saw that the future was not as great as they imagined, and pulled back.
I hope.
They are going back to 1.6 next year to save their arse and atleast people will semi pay attention to them for awhile. I'm sure they still get money from sponsors but not as much as the world in conflict and fear guys paid them.
Eswc has been doing it right and picking games people actually play and putting on big shows. The cpl could have done that also but that would be money out of his pocket.
Then some aussies might show up
CPL - Go Pro, Get Screwed?
if you want to know more about this or just esports in general in australia check out esau . com . au
ROFL, what were CPL thinking?
aus has a crap community and wouldnt have been able to host a respectable comp anyways.
cpl shouldnt bother with 1.6 next year, 1.6 is dead.
