Hepatitis A diagnosis keeps Rio's top franchise player from participating in the Championship Gaming Series World Finals. In a press release published on December 3, the Rio Sinistro announced that Luis “Lavu” Uribe would be unable to attend the CGS World Finals in Los Angeles due to contraction of the Hepatitis A virus. Uribe, who plays Project Gotham Racing 3, was the top placer in the CGS Latin American finals. The Rio Sinistro will exercise their option to use taxi team player Francisco Alberto “M3talX” Gómez Alegría. According to the US Government's Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Hepatitis A is common in Latin American countries and often transmitted because of poor sanitation. The virus is not life threatening but its effects can range from flu-like symptoms to "severely disabling disease lasting several months." The Sinistro are confident despite losing one of their top players, and PGR3 franchise player Luis “LegitRacer” Ibarra said, "This was unexpected and changes a lot our plans, but I trust we will still get good results."
