Roccat takes home the 5,000€ first prize after taking out EGC in the Finals.
Assembly Winter 2008, a WCG Pre-Qualifier event in Finland came to a close today after two days of matches.
With around $13,000USD in the prize purse, the event drew Finland's top teams to gather in the city of Tampere for competition that featured a group stage on Saturday, followed by a single elimination bracket stage on Sunday.
During the group stage, a supposedly strong Excello took a very unexpected loss to EGC. This led to Roccat and Excello, who most assumed would play in the finals against one another, to play a Semi-Finals match where the loser would not receive a second shot at a top finish.
In yet another surprise, Gamefear, the team whom Excello would have faced for their third/fourth place game, left before it was scheduled to happen. The forfeit loss gave them fourth place and Excello a prize spot.
