All Games: eStars Continental Cup explained!

By: Mark Cheben - Published July 22, 2008 at 1:46 AM UTC - Writer Archive
Look inside to figure out how the eStars Continental Cup actually works.
The eStars Continental Cup is one of the more interesting events to take place in 2008. With a quirky format derived from RTS games, the folks behind eStars have turned a CS and WC3 tournament into an east versus west smack down.

So how does this whole thing work? There are four matches between Warcraft 3 and CounterStrike, a “Threesome” match and a “Deathmatch” match for each game.

In a Threesome match the coach will assign teams/players to play on predetermined maps, they then face off against the opposing teams/players that were assigned to the same map.

In a Deathmatch match the slate of three CS squads/WC3 players will participate in a King of the Hill style match. The teams will square off on a CS map with the losing squad being eliminated from the match and the winner facing the next squad from the other team. This continues until one side has no more squads left.

At the end of this the team that has secured more match wins will win the overall East vs. West showdown. If the overall score is tied two to two then a single CS match will be played to break the tie. Below are the lineups for the East and West teams:
