All Games: WCG 2008 StarCraft Preview

Group E

Costa Rica Juan Carlos "gK_tOsS" Mora
South Korea Chan Soo "Luxury" Park
Russia Sergey "RoX.Pomi" Rodionov
Malaysia James "JohnRambo" Foo
China Yin "loveTT" Liu

Group E is very similar to Group D. It is fairly obvious that Luxury will advance, so the battle will be for the other spot. It is very difficult to choose between the other three since all of them are very skilled.

Pomi surprised a ton of people by winning WCG Russia when he wasn't even considered a favorite. He is a very underrated player who is capable of upseting just about anyone. loveTT is one of the best protoss users in China along with Legend. While he is fairly unknown in the international community, he is still a major force to be reckoned with.

Who advances? Luxury and Pomi.

Group F

Colombia Juan "RaiDen" Sanclemente
China Lei "ChinaTTTT" Zhang
Panama Aaron "CocoA" Deir
United States Tyler "Liquid`NonY" Wasieleski
Austria Rupert "ETBrooD" Soyka

The two heavy favorites in Group F include ChinaTTTT and NonY. ChinaTTTT has been one of the strongest players in China for years while NonY, the American champion and future professional gamer, is among the best of the non-Koreans.

The player that should not be overlooked is CocoA. At WCG 2005 in Singapore, he represented the United States where he was able to advance past group stages. If he is prepared for this event he could easily sneak into the next round.

Who advances? NonY and ChinaTTTT.

Group G

Ukraine Eugin "MYM.Strelok" Oparyshev
Mexico Miguel "SMall" Serrato
Lithuania Vytautas "MYM.Arew" Graiciunas
Italy Carlo "ToT)ClouD(" Giannacco

Group G includes three of the top European players. It is unfortunate that all of them cannot advance, but rules are rules. ClouD remains the heavy favorite to advance in this group after his most recent second place finish in the Spirit Tournament.

The true battle will be between Strelok and Arew. Strelok is an amazing player, but in recent events he has failed to pick up a solid victory. Arew is a newer generation protoss player that is motivated and practices hard. However, I believe the experience of Strelok will allow him to move onto the next round.

Who advances? ClouD and Strelok.

Group H

Poland Krzysztof "Draco" Nalepka
South Korea Byung Goo "Stork[gm]" Song
Uzbekistan Firdavs "Templar" Gasanov
China Xian "Legend" Luo
Slovakia Tomas "Maix]DK[" Samol

Group H is considered by many to be the "Group of Death". The defending champion Stork should have no problem advancing. Legend is a former professional gamer who is considered one of the best in all of China. Draco is a former professional gamer as well, but has been inactive as of late. Maix also has the ability to cause an upset, but I don't think it is very likely.

Who advances? Stork and Legend.
