Electronic Sports World Cup (ESWC) has released information regarding the first list of countries and respective national organizers who will be participating in the upcoming 2009 year.
Although the current list only includes 16 countries, ESWC has confirmed that it is engaged in on-going discussions with many organizers from other countries.

Confirmed Countries:
China China
Colombia Colombia
France France
Germany Germany
Iran Iran
Japan Japan
South Korea South Korea
Madagascar Madagascar
Malaysia Malaysia
Mexico Mexico
Nigeria
Panama Panama
Peru Peru
Slovenia Slovenia
Tunisia Tunisia
Ukraine Ukraine

Among the other countries with which ESWC is currently still in talks include: Belarus, Belgium, Brazil, Croatia, Egypt, Greece, India, Indonesia, Italy, Netherlands, Norway, Pakistan, Poland, Portugal, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, UAE, United Kingdom, USA, and Venezuela.

A notable exception from both lists is Denmark. In 2008, Denmark did not hold a national qualifier and it appears that 2009 will be the same. Danish competitor and future WCG champion mTw was only able to qualify for the 2008 Grand Final by winning the ESWC Masters event.

Full press release can be found on the ESWC website.
