All Games: SK-US Does it again! US-Blizzard Regionals Recap

Pandemics Unfortunate Flop

One of the teams that I'm sorry to say has disappointed me over the past few tournaments has been Team Pandemic. While Team Pandemic was the most dominating force in 2007. It seems as if the "Skill Cap" of other players has finally caught up to these titans. Many would claim them to be "washed up" or "outdated", and after watching them closely in the past few months I must say that these terms aren't exactly what I would use to describe this team.

I think Pandemic has focused entirely to much on being the "Flavor of the Month" composition and hasn't focused enough on mastering one particular comp. Kintts' fetish with playing the "overpowered" healer is what I really feel to be the downfall of this team. We've all known Shinanigans and Beast to be exceptionally good players, and I really feel like Kintt is the one dragging them down.

I think these guys should rethink their roster and really focus on their strong points. Personally I view Kintt as one of the best priest ever to grace the World of Warcraft, and should he take my advice and build a team revolving around that. I could really see these guys spark some future upsets, perhaps with a RMP lineup with some all-star mages would be a good starting point. I know that ditching good friends and people to play a composition more suited to him is hard to do. However I don't think we'll see much progress until something of the sort is done. Best of luck to pandemic.

eMg's Typhoon of Sucess

Team eMg has made quite thunderstorm of upsets in their short career. These guys know how to hit hard and bring the pain. While they've been criticized for their "noob friendly" or "cheesy" team, I really feel like these guys do deserve a shot in the spotlight. After a second place finish at MLG Columbus, Hunter Hero Twixz has put this team on the board as a competitive one.

Many say they won't survive DK nerfs and BM changes, however I feel they're experienced enough to make it work. I've even found myself criticizing them on their cheesy play, but after a recent look at their lineup I must say they play the comp as it should be played. With all trash talking set aside, they're doing exactly what they should be doing to win tournaments.

They approached Columbus/Regionals with the mindset that most tournament teams should have, "If we can beat RMP we can win a tournament". And even though they may not all individually be Tournament All Stars, their team was designed and created to upset the current "Tournament Comp", RMP. Expect to see many future upsets and surprises from these guys as they're in it to win it.

Behind the scenes with Holyplay

Finally we reach the 8th place finishing team of Holyplay. Due to a recent team fallout, one of the members failed to show up to Cologne. Although I expected this team to do well, I really didn't expect a 1st or 2nd place finish. Led by Deadly Gladiator Euneek, a known ret paladin on the Bg9 Battlegroup, I assumed this team would "shake things up" but not reach the winners bracket. I'm sure this team is already aware their current line up of Ret, Priest, Shaman isn't as punishing of a comp it used to be. Best of luck to Euneeks new team in finding their place in the tournament scene.

A message from GotFrag's new WoW division head

To give a brief background for those who don't know me, My name is Ryan Pinkham AKA Didy. I've been in and out of the tournament scene for almost a year now, originally playing for GotGame with Warrior Hero Hoodrych, and Greenranger. Eventually due to IRL preferences we replaced Hoodrych with Vaux and ran Rogue/Lock/Druid for the rest of 2008. As my team approached its competitive end I sought to continue going to tournaments with a new team, and I will hopefully be going to events with my new and improved roster.

As for my future with GotFrag, I intend to attend every MLG event so expect to see some blogging from ground zero in the upcoming MLG events.
