Following a ban on "killer" games, the German government is forbidding counter-strike to be played at public LAN events. The past year, Germany has been plagued with large amounts of school shootings. They have mostly gone unexplained and that is the reason the Government decided to step in. Different local governments in Germany have decided to BAN all "killer" games at LAN events. This sadly has lead to the cancellation of multiple ESL Friday Night games, and it has now claimed the Convention-X-Treme tournament. This is the first known event that a government has banned Counter-Strike, and all "killer" games, to help curb the violence. Many people are very upset, thinking they are drastically over stepping the limit. Convention-X-Treme officials say that they are looking for a new venue to be able to host the event, but at this time they were forced to cancel. Everyone that had already paid will receive a full refund for the event. The question we have all be waiting for is if the German Government will make it a country-wide ban and eliminate Counter-Strike overall. Stay tuned to GotFrag.com for updates on gaming in Germany. |

like everyone else is saying, tv and the internet probably have more negative effects on people who aren't very stable mentally. on top of that cs isn't exactly the most graffic video game out there, AND it has a pretty reasonable following in germany
it's true what i said. Just look at asian countries, instead of banning video games, they put limits on them. They understand what a 'video game' is and what limits are.
Germany, on the other hand, still doesn't get it, why? Well if I restate what I said in my nuked post, this one will probably be nuked be as well.
Heck, the baby boomers of America still view video games as a very bad habbit for their children.
[disclaimer: i did not mean for my nuked post to be racist in any way]
they wouldnt be able to ban the more violent TV shows and movies instead, coz the industry is slapping their faces with money, what hypocrites
cowards behind this should be the ones to get shot instead
sad German politicians, where's the source article anywy?
And the government said that it should be spread around the World. Banning Violent Video Games.
Oh, You've got to be F**king kidding me. -_-
where have you been since MLG bought the site?
It's sad that those kids will go out and kill others, but have they done background checks on each one of those kids? Were the parents abusive? How much time did the parents really spend with them? Perhaps there were bullies? Games are meant to be played to have fun. Parents need to watch their kids closer.
