All Games: GameGune Mex: EG Vs Turmoil Preview

By: Gotfrag Announcements - Published September 11, 2009 at 6:15 AM EDT - Writer Archive
EG and Turmoil go head-to-head as one of the most anticipated matches of GameGune Mexico.
GotFrag.com - GameGune kicked off with a blazing start yesterday in Mexico City, Mexico. The tournament has moved into a 8 man tournament with two American powerhouses going for the first place prize. These two teams, EG and Turmoil, will meet tomorrow in the Upper Bracket. Some predictions for this event expected this match to be the finals match of this event. As that is not out of the question, these teams are meeting rather early in this tournament.

EG has proven strong over summer heading into this big event. They recently won the last season of ESEA in a great matchup against complexity. They have been a team that has constantly been at the top and has dominated this past season of CEVO. They are currently 16-1 as the season is ending and heading into the playoffs. They are also undefeated as the next season of ESEA is just now kicking off. Their only close matches have been against Turmoil and CyberRev. They have proven to be the online powerhouse and bringing that skill to LAN with them.

Turmoil is a team that has been in the news quite a bit lately. They are the former Gravitas Gaming, an organization they were with for over a year. They had ventured into the top of the American CS scene during the CGS days and have remained a top three competitor ever since.

Ediz "goodfornothing" Basol has taken many breaks to visit family and go on vacation but the team has always come back and set themselves in motion to be the top in the US. With the recent team changes, they have also not had a solid fifth player since the ESEA-playoffs. They have used both Paul “Adrenaline” Baker and they are currently using Joe “perez” Perez. They have not been at full strength this tournament with their manager filling in as a fifth player. The team is currently 8-8 in CEVO-P heading into the playoffs with only two matches left in the season.

The teams have met twice this season in CEVO-P Season 11. In the first meeting between the teams EG earned a FFW as Turmoil was not able to make the match. The second time both teams fought it out until EG came off on top barely with a 16-14 win. They have also met once already this ESEA-I Season. EG was able to win that match 16-11 in a good matchup. Online, EG has dominated over the past few seasons, but Turmoil looks to take revenge as they battle to play the winners of WeMadeFOX and vLF.

The teams will be playing on a best-of-three format with the maps yet to be known. Both of these teams have the ability to kick off on any map and become unstoppable. This match-up is surely something to be exciting and possibly repeated in the finals. Depending on how the team that wins this match performs against WMF or vLF, they could meet in the lower or upper bracket finals. This is an excellent preview into some of the action that will take place in a few weeks at the WCG USA Finals in New York.
