All Games: Playoffs Spotlight: compLexity

GotFrag takes a look at the top six teams competing in the ESEA-I LAN Playoffs.

GotFrag.com - compLexity has what it takes. Just like Turmoil and EG, they have floated around in the top three for the longest time. They just recently made a huge roster change, dropping evolution for thoMz. This move has made the team more consistent overall and it seems that it has turned out for the good.

This weekend will be a big test for them. They almost need that first place finish to prove to everyone that they have what it takes. Last year they got locked up in a heated match up vs EG in the Grand Finals. This year they will look to repeat that trip to the grand finals, but they will have to go through Turmoil first. compLexity's last time on LAN ended in one of the worst performances by the team. They ended up placing 4th at WCG when they were the favorite to take one of the top two places.

They will end up getting a BYE in the first round due to them being the second seed. They will go on to face winner of the Turmoil vs Excello match. This means that into their first round of play they should already be facing one of the top three teams. If they are able to pull out a win on Turmoil they will be off to face the winner of EG vs Loaded/DINC.

compLexity's ESEA Playoffs Roster:

United States Andrew "Irukandji" Timmerman
United States Derek "dbooRn" Boorn
United States Jeff "hero" Mettetal
United States Thomas "thoMz" Garcia
United States Ryan "NineSpot" Bell

League Record: 13-3
Seed:2nd

Expected Finish: They should easily be in the top three. Turmoil will be a big test for them early on. If they are able to past that first test then they could very well be right in the face of EG. Only time will tell if they will prove that they are number one.

Interview with a Player

We caught up with Andrew "Irukandji" Timmerman to ask him a few questions about the upcoming LAN Finals.

The teams last time on LAN, WCG Finals, was called a flop by many. What have you guys been doing to prepare for this event to make sure it does not happen again?

We've been trying to put as much time as effort into practicing as possible, but it's been really hard as there really aren't that many good teams to play right now. We've been playing what some people would consider lower-tiered teams so we'll just have to see how it pays off for us this weekend.

You guys recently traded thoMz for evolution. What has thoMz brought to the team and how has it improved your team game?

Tom brings a really good emotional balance and a lot of energy to the team that I think we've been lacking. He also fits in really well with the team outside of CS so that's a bonus, as well.

Who do you see as your biggest rival going into this event?

EG/Turmoil, but I think every team in attendance has a chance at doing damage.
