700 of the world’s best cyberathletes will descend upon the Autodromo Nazionale Monza motor racing circuit as a culmination of nearly 70 national qualifiers held from March through September of this year in preparation for the event. These cyberathletes will be representing their countries in eight games for the Gold Cup, the right to be called the best nation in the world and for nearly $500,000 in cash and prizes.

The event, taking place October 18th-22nd, will be much more than just competition in those eight games. The event will provide a festival type atmosphere beginning on the 18th with the opening ceremony. Opening ceremonies will include the march of the nations flags participating, player oaths, a live concert and more all taking place in the center of the Formula One track at Monza. Festivities will continue throughout the week with more concerts, side events, special tournaments, a Quake All Star tournament, and a host of game related fun. The event will also include exhibitions from sponsors such as Microsoft X-Box 360, Samsung and a long list of international sponsors all ending with a spectacular closing ceremony on the 22nd in which the winning nations will be crowned.
