Who do you consider to be the top five in North America right now (not including yourself)?
Hmm, interesting question. It is kinda hard to judge because of my limited experience playing everyone. I tend to play someone a handful of times and then not for awhile so they dont become custom to my style of play, while I can learn theirs and build off of it. Right now I would have to say the top players besides myself would have to be socrates, immortal and destrukt. I really can't think of another 2 that stand out to me unfortunately. I see great potential in players like elpajou, daler, cha0ticz, czm but untill they start practicing, I don't think I would consider them top right now.
Can a person that manages a college workload and professional gaming compete with, let's say a fatal1ty who has the perfect training and playing conditions?
Sure. I have always felt that some people need to "practice, practice, practice" while others can learn just as much from just a 1-2 hours of playing a day. Look at CZM, princeton, way better than fatal1ty ever was at q3, hardly played more than 2 hours a day, sometimes going DAYS even weeks without playing and still beating every single person he played (minus cooller @ this past eswc and fooki @ qlan).
Staying on the subject of fatal1ty. Would you personally rather be a part of his "Free Players Organization" or part of a dedicated team like you are now? Answer this using the hypothetical variable that you receive the same financial support from both.
That's a really hard question. I respect what fatal1ty is trying to do soo much, but I don't think it's for me. I don't really want to pursue gaming in the hopes of making a living off it. To me its just a competitive hobby with some money involved.
What are your plans for PRE-CPL preparation? When are you heading to Dallas?
I'll be leaving this weekend to go lan with Daler and Wombat from Team 3d in Austin. I also had plans to attend the fatal1ty shootout in NYC this weekend as well, but I have too many things I have to do for that to be possible.
If you were in control of the rules for the CPL Grand Finals, which one map would you choose to decide the championship?
Given that I see lots of changes in maps, with new ones added and ones being taken away over the course of the 2006 Q4 World Tour, I can't give an answer for that. But if these are going to be the only four maps for the entire year, then I would probably eliminate phrantic. It's just not a map that should be played to prove who's the absolute best at Q4.
How do you feel about the impact of the Railgun on Quake 4? For instance, two of the four maps that are to be played at the upcoming CPL have the staple that is quake, missing.
I think its an interesting weapon. It can single handedly change the flow of the entire game with its presence on a map. I like the weapon a lot, but I feel that having maps without it allows us to see who can prevail all-around, instead of just whoring the rail to win games.
If you had to declare your strength on the battlefield, what would it be? Weakness?
Like Q3, My lightning gun is probably my biggest strength. My weakness is weapon selection. Until I really realized this recently, I have been more apt to pull out a lightening gun in close-quater fights, rather than a more powerful weapon like the rocket launcher. Weapon selection is a huge part of the game and not being able to make those types of decisions really can mess you up.
What is your most memorable gaming experience?
So many... :( Every event I go to something memorable happens. My old TDM team, track5, we used to have these crazy fun lan's/parties, ddr, console gaming, drinking, drugs, was an amazing time. At QLAN2, all of the top CTF/1v1 Players roamed the streets of Stockholm with this little soccer ball. we must of gone miles and miles in search of the famous Clan 9 Cafe, we played soccer during our search in the streets of Sweden for hours, was just so much fun, the group of people went together so well, and then we finally found Clan 9 Cafe.. they were technically closed but the QPO (Quad Peoples Org) guys were still around and decided to let us in and play, they knew a lot of our names so were more than happy to shoot the shit with everyone, we played until about 5am then we had to leave for our flights. But I think those two experiences were the most memorable, old track5 lan's and Sweden with a soccer ball :)
If you could erase one gaming event from your career what would it be?
Cyber X-Games. And rather explain why, you can read why here: http://www.esreality.com/?a=post&id=592078
Now onto some personal questions... Who do you consider to be the hottest woman on the planet? (besides your girlfriend)
Jolene Blalock
What school are you currently going to and what is your major?
Last time I said what school I was attending, I had the entire counter-strike population at my school emailing me asking me to play games with them. I am currently interested in Pre-Med.
If you had the choice between the following two scenarios what would you choose? You are guaranteed $50,000 a year in prizes and endorsements to be a professional gamer and travel the globe for five years. When the five years are up, your contract expires, your talent disappears and you're forced to fall back to real world. You have no experience, education or job credentials and are forced to go either go back to school or work a low wage job. The second scenario is the normal path of a adolescent. You goto college and graduate in four years. You spend your college days partying, studying and just barely getting by on ramen noodles. When you get out of college you start at $50k a year and have a general increase and job security for the rest of your life.
That's a silly question. Obviously the second scenario. You need education. Period.
Say the first thing that comes to your mind when you hear the word.
vo0: "Yo vo0, how could you lose to that guy? vo0: This tournament is broken"
phrantic: too easy to spawn rape
The wedding crashers: god that guys nose is so messed up
fast food: mmm wendys
Hawaii: i really hope CPL puts a tournament there, I really wanna go there :(
South Dakota: wtf is that
myspace: a place for ugly people to get attention by 40 year old pedophiles
