Quake: Winz Wins ESWC Q4

By: Mark Cheben - Published July 01, 2006 at 12:14 PM EDT - Writer Archive
Aliaksei "Cypher" Yanusheuski a fairly unkown player outside the diehard Quakers, finally got his chance to strut his stuff on the international level.
Everyone knew that he was a great player. He's gone head to head with Cooller a few times and played him very tough. It is unfortunate for Cypher as this may be his only chance to shine in 2006 due to his age. The 16 year old rising superstar from Belarus has come into ESWC with a vengence. He dominated his way through group stage play, and dismantled the currently ranked number 1 and 2 players in the world in Toxic, and Cooller.

Winz has had an amazing tournament himself. He dismantled toxic in Stage II of group play in one of the greatest comebacks in Quake history. Down 7-0 in the first few minutes of the match he rallied to come back down 3 frags with 3 minutes remaining in the match. At that point Winz regained map control and took over tieing the match and eventually going on to win by a score of 17-13.

The stage is set for one amazing battle between the proven veteran of Winz, and the young up and comer from Belarus, Cypher. Stay tuned to GotFrag as we bring you the latest Quake 4 news live from ESWC 2006 Grand Finals in Paris, France.

Radio iTg will also be casting the finals. You can catch their stream right here.

Random results. I guess there havent been enough big Q4 tournaments to really showcase all the talent. Well played Cypher.
If quizzes are quizzical, then what are tests?

Random? Please, Cypher is a beast! I tip my hat to him. We knew his name, but he's never attended any big events. He's always given Cooller a hard time, now he just proved how good he really is. Toxic hasn't played that well. He took a loss to winz so it didn't surprise me he lost to Cypher at all.

I think Cooller's motivation isn't that big anymore as in the middle of his career
After all what he won and achieved, he doesnt seems to care that much losing matches.
If he would train just like the others, would have been better
