The CPL announced today that it will feature the Challenge ProMode Arena (CPMA) with VQ3 gamplay, during the Quake 3 tournaments of the 2006 World Season. CPMA includes such features as MultiView demos, improved netcode and improved gameplay physics.

The CPL has established an ongoing relationship with the CPMA developers, to maintain constant support and add additional enhancements deemed necessary by the league and its competitors.

"We're are happy that CPL is providing the best possible environment for Quake 3 competitions. Aside from the immediate benefits to the players thanks to CPMA's advanced featureset, we'll be improving the spectator experience by adding VQ3 support to our MultiView GTV and demo technology," said Kevin Blenkinsopp ("arQon") project lead for CPMA.

The CPL World Season will culminate at the 2006 Championship Finals, which will take place Wednesday, December 13 to Sunday, December 17, 2006 at the landmark Hyatt Regency hotel in downtown Dallas.

Online registration for the finals will launch August 1st and will offer only 128 spots for the Quake 3 tournament. The $30 registration fee will also include a BYOC spot. The top 32 finalists will share a total purse of $50,000.

Once they announced that they were using q3 it was pretty much a given they would use the CPMA.

CPMA is awesome, CPMA gameplay is awesome as well but VQ3 is fun to watch too. Should be a good tour :D

#18 it's just osp gameplay, and the the new map pool 'apparently' is gonna be 3 of the old maps and 2 new ones. cpm maps generally don't work in vq3, hub was an exception though.

Hm, my first thought is what does voO think about all this? Or Fat? Second, why not just not normal CPMA? Isn't VQ3 the one with normal Q3 movement? That's no fun. When will they come out with a CPMA mod for Q4? I know it's been brought up many times, but seriously.

it would be better for them to use cpm that way all the pk players would have an advantage and they can build off of last year

It's vq3 (OSP) physics, remember, which means we wont be seeing rat or voo playing. :(

#27 osp is bad, it's more random, and cpma is just better. I'm disappointed about vq3 movement (not because it's slower, it's just less precise) but whatever, at least shots will register.
