Some of the world's best Quake 4 duelers battle it out for the KODE5 championship. Unlike the WarCraft III and CounterStrike 1.6 KODE5 finals, the Quake 4 finals will be held this weekend, August 25-27th, at the famed Games Convention in Leipzig, Germany. Eight players from qualifiers in England, Sweden, Germany, Spain, Russia, Turkey, Italy and the United States will battle it out for the inagural KODE5 championship. Such players include the Intel Summer Championships/Quakecon champion Johan "toxic" Quick, CPL Winter 2005 winner and Russian powerhouse Anton "cooller" Singov, and LanWar victor Alessandro "stermy" Avallone. Matches begin bright and early this Friday at 04:00 AM EST (10:00 CET). Matches will be played in a best of 3, double elimination format. The seeds and first round matches have been made available. The first round match between ex-TeK-9 teammates Ivo "forever" Lindhout and Rafik "LoSt-CaUsE" Bryant should be the most exciting. Bryant defeated Lindhout in their only ever match-up at this year's LanWar. UPDATE: Cooller has been disqualifed from the KODE5 Q4 Finals due to being late to the finals match. Instead of Toxic versus Cooller, the final match will be between Toxic and k1ller. Head here to read a full preview of the finals. Video coverage and shoutcasting will be provided by inside The Game's TosspoT and GGL's Carmac, and can be accessed at this location.
