If your talking about playing against bot's in Quake live from the home screen click on the "pratice" tab that is located next to the "play online" tab in the game browser window.
From there you can creat a local game that no one can join inwhich you can select what map, gametype, gamelimits (score/time) and bots number and difficulity.
