Amongst WSVG and CPL controversy comes a return to play as a winner is crowned at ASUS Winter.
Not so long ago we brought you the
announcement of ASUS Winter 2006, and today we have the final standings of the $6,000 (165,000 rubles) 1v1 Q4 tournament. Having only lost one map in the final 24 (to e-Mobile*Hunter on Fleet) and going undefeated in regards to matches won, Cooller has won $1,900 along with some sponsorship accessories. After defeating Jibo 2-0 (16-9 Monsoon, 16-3 Phrantic), Cooller waited in the finals as Hunter (who Cooller knocked into the lower brackets earlier in the tournament) went head to head with Jibo for a shot at revenge and second place. Hunter won his match 2-0 (18-13 Fleet, 14-12 Galang) to take on the Russian powerhouse Anton "Cooller" Singov in the finals.
With the first map set to Phrantic, Cooller followed in his usual tradition of the map and took the game by a fair margin of 14-9. Fleet, however, was a different story as he narrowly escaped defeat with a mark of 17-14. That's all he (Cooller) needed though, as he took the series 2-0 and the tournament. Final standings can be found below along with some short statistics for the top three competitors.
