The Cyberathlete Professional League has announced its 1v1 committee along with the official map rotation. This committee has been formed with some of the top players in the world, as well as active members of the community and a few members of the media. The primary focus of this committee will be to assist CAL with input in developing and maintaining rules, guidelines, and map selections for the CPL and CAL one-versus-one tournaments. Over the next year, CAL will be expanding its one-versus-one games, including the return of Quake 3 competitions, which will begin registration later this week. Additionally, Quake 4 1v1 Invite season will begin pre-season this week. The committee will focus on keeping the tournaments both competitive and fun, as well as increase media coverage for the competitions. They will also advice on new games to determine the feasibility of using them in CAL or CPL tournaments. The committee has already selected the map rotation for all worldwide CPL-sanctioned Quake 4 tournaments. The selected map rotation will consist of five maps: Galang, Monsoon, Placebo Effect, A Man Called Sun, and Fool’s Run. We will be using the latest versions for each of these maps. For tournaments using the CPL rules, each player will select a map that they wish to throw out from the five maps and then the players will make their choice for which map they wish to play. The higher seeded player will determine which map will be played first in their match. In the event of a 1-1 tie after their match, the remaining map from the three maps selected before the match will be used for the tiebreaker. In the event that the players choose the same map as their choice, the map will be played twice and in the event of a tie, a coin flip will determine which of the two remaining maps will be played for the tiebreaker. --- Source: The CPL |
